I dont know. But this movie flew right under my radar, I just saw it today in Netflix and it was pretty good. Poorly marketed, perhaps?

Same here, just heard about it yesterday...and not disappointed.
sharePoorly marketed, perhaps?A fair conclusion to draw. I'm pretty sure it didn't even get a cinema release in some countries such as Australia, which is pretty surprising considering the size of its budget.🐭
Poorly marketed, or the marketing misrepresented it...
I let it go by when it was in the theaters, and when the home video releases came out (read that as DVD and BluRay).
I understood the marketing I did see as how it was a "cop movie" with Bruce Willis. *Yawn* After "Die Hard" and all its versions were done, I didn't want to sit through still another Willis "cop movie".
That said, I accidentally caught it about mid-way through the other day while flipping channels. It was interesting, but you have to focus on what the movie is about, which oddly enough comes down to a "cop movie" with a lot of twists, more than a movie about robots. (and things like the later AVITAR movie.)
I found it to be a little derivative from another few previous movies, but still original enough to be enjoyable. XCHANGE starring one of the (other) Baldwin brothers used "surrogates" but did an actual mind swap into a biological surrogate/host, and required the mind to be swapped back before the "expiration date" of the surrogate. And then there is the MATRIX series that may hae preceded it too.
So, it was not the movie I expected it to be.
Marketing.
Unfortunately this bombed bigtime here in the US. The budget was 80 million but the domestic box office only 38 million. Overseas take 84 million making the total 122 million. Shame. This was a very interesting movie. I've re-watched often. Can't say the same for the entire batch of superhero films that have come out in the last 6 yrs. Not to mention many of the films released this year that have already made the flop list, I hadn't heard of. Looks like many of us aren't checking out these films.
The early bird might get the worm, but the 2nd mouse gets the cheese!
Yes, it was a flop! Director Jonathan Moscow had this in post production up until its release date. Jonathan Moscow has no talent but given more time we might have sen a better product than this drek!
