Comment Gordon makes at Charlie's

Gordon said something to Tatiana (Charlie's) that makes no sense. I've already deleted it so I can't quote it verbatim, but the gist of it was: if the chef was a good chef, Charlie (the original owner) would've taken him with him. WHY? Charlie *SOLD* the restaurant, presumably because he was retiring, or getting out of the restaurant business. As far as we're told he was NOT opening a different restaurant. So why would he take his chef along with him? What, are they supposed to play golf together now, or go on cruises together?

I've seen that episode many times and I never caught that! That's so true, it was never said that Charlie sold out and opened another restaurant.

That tripped me up so much I had to go back and re watch the part that gives the history of restaurant. I understood the guy after Charlie ran it into the ground w/ this chef, but until Gordon said that, I though Charlie had a different chef & this guy came onboard with the second owner. I don't see how the place was ever successful with "chef" Casa-whats-his-name at the helm.

From the info we're given in the episode, I THINK the same chef--the awful one--was there throughout the three ownerships, i.e., Charlie, the guy who bought it from him, and Tatiana. I'm pretty sure that's correct, because Casmiro was there for what, 15 years? Tatiana hadn't owned it very long when Gordon came to help, and I got the impression the second owner didn't have it very long either, so it seems that Charlie was the one who hired Casmiro originally.
