The end of Kitchen Nightmares?

It sounds like Gordon Ramsay has filmed his last Kitchen Nightmares. He is currently in a new Kitchen Nightmare series in Spain called Ramsay's Costa Del Nightmares airing in England and says he's done with the series. Personally I have thought the past 2 or 3 years has been going down in quality...probably time to end this series. What are your thoughts?

I enjoy the show, but each episode is perfectly predictable...

He orders some entrees and spits them all out; says they're #^&%@*!
He goes to the walk-in and kitchen and finds them filthy
The chef is incompetent; the owner is nuts
Dinner service is chaotic but gets better
Generally a happy ending.

I'm sorry to see the show end, but he did it for a long time.

Ah, you forgot the one very predictable part of the show (which happens to be my favorite), he asks the head chef/owner what is wrong with the place and eventually asks 'how would you rate your food?'. The answer, at least a 9 perhaps a 10 (me: heh-heh-heh).

Related, later one when Gordon confronts the owner/chef on how bad their food is, they virtually always say, 'I disagree, I have never had any complaints, that's our #1 dish'. I just never get tired of seeing them confronted by reality, it's my favorite part of the show.

You're right; those are good ones. And following no. two above, there's the inevitable mass return of dishes to the kitchen. Love it.

It IS predictable, but only because there are common reasons why these restaurants are failing. Laziness & complacency are two of the biggest contributors to the failure of a once successful establishment. So, it stands to reason the food isn't going to be that good, that the details like cleaning & ordering are being neglected, and either the chef, the owner, or both have issues. If the food was great, the kitchen spotless, and owner and/or chef were at the top of their game, they wouldn't need the help, and wouldn't be on the show. Where the difference comes in is HOW he motivates the people. The first day he's there, he observes, and formulates a plan. That's the part I like. Also, watch the revisit shows. They're not all happy endings.

Yeah, it is over, according to Gordon:

At least, perhaps for now.....
