Glimmer of hope for another season

Somehow I missed this--until right now:

In a promo for his upcoming four-episode series Ramsay's Costa Del Nightmares, chef Gordon Ramsay talks about his decision to end his multinational show Kitchen Nightmares, which will soon sign off after 10 years on television.

But there's a glimmer of hope for Nightmares fans: The famously shouty chef draws a parallel between himself another familiar British TV personality, Jeremy Clarkson, who resurrected his own program Top Gear after taking a three-year break. "He said, 'I missed it so much that when I came back, I came back twice as strong,'" Ramsay says, reflecting on what his own temporary leave of absence could mean. "I think it's good to stop. I want to get out, but more importantly, I want to come back twice as strong." Watch out, chefs, a doubly-mean Ramsay may be visiting your restaurants just as soon as his stomach gets a much-needed break: In his original announcement, Ramsay claims to have consumed "234 Zantacs" over the course of filming.

Personally, I'd LOVE to see new episodes! I hope Ramsay decides to do it.

Was watching BBC America last night and they did a promo for Kitchen Nightmares. I know they air the reruns during the day, but i got the impression that these were new episodes.

Fraaaank. FRANK! Get my jean bin. Susie wants my jeans.
No she doesnt.

Don't get too excited when you're seeing promos on BBCA. That's because something that is 'new' to them may not be NEW at all. For example, when KN was still running on Fox, they'd say "all new episodes" of KN starting on such-and-such date, but they were talking about that season's Fox episodes. In other words, the episodes had ALREADY AIRED on Fox, but they were new to BBCA, hence the 'new' hype.

At any rate, I'm crossing my fingers that Ramsay decides to do more NEW episodes of KN! 

I've seen that on various UK channels. One channel recently was advertising "all new" episodes of Judge Judy and the date at the end of the shows was 2004. First time I caught it was last year when a channel was advertising "all new episodes" of Star Trek: The Next Generation.

I really wish that Ramsay would bring the show back, US or UK, it doesn't matter! All we have left is Restaurant Impossible which has always been a cheap knock off of Kitchen Nightmares. Really would you rather have a Michelin starred chef with an unlimited budget help you or someone who can't keep a restaurant open with a $10,000 budget? Sorry if that sounded snarky!

Hey, so what if it does sound snarky?!  But it didn't to me.  Of course that's because I've always thought that RI is just a cheap rip-off of KN, and it is. Anyway, I'd be very pleased to see even one more season of KN, so I'm going to keep those fingers crossed that Ramsay decides to do it.

I read that Robert Irvine is ticked with Food Network over their new show, American Diner Rescue. He wrote on Twitter that it copied RI. Someone replied that RI is a copy of the original restaurant makeover show: Kitchen Nightmares. He replied that it wasn't, Gordon had an unlimited budget and did nothing. Jealous much? Naturally someone with several Michelin stars and restaurants is going to have a better show. As for Gordon doing nothing, I've seen him put on gloves and scrub kitchens alongside the owners. What has Irvine done but scream and swing a sledgehammer?

Yes, indeed. Especially in the UK version. I remember him scrubbing away in one particularly filthy kitchen along with the rest of the staff.

What has Irvine done but scream and swing a sledgehammer?
Exactly.

Hopefully, RI is on its way out. I forgot to mention, Irvine claimed to have an 80% success rate! Where he pulled that from, I don't know. All you have to do is take a look at Food Network Gossip and you'll see how many restaurants on the show have closed. Irvine probably wasn't to blame, but speak the truth man! As for Kitchen Nightmares, I'm enjoying seeing the last season on BBC America. Yes, they edit, but at least you don't hear as many bleeps!

2004, eh?! That's pretty bad!

Over on this side of the pond, Investigation Discovery channel has been doing the 'all new!' thing recently. They're showing old episodes of a show that was originally called "Forensic Files," but they're calling it "Cause of Death"--and advertising each episode as "all new!" It's kind of funny, really, because when you watch, you can't help but notice the ARCHAIC technology! Like cordless phones the size of a brick, or computer monitors that weighed 70+ pounds, etc. Sure, that was all cutting edge stuff--back in the '90s! 

I have noticed ID doing that as well! "All new series" but the info says it aired years ago!
