Gretchen Mol looks pretty damn good, but it's Aleksa Palladino (Angela Darmody) who takes my breath away every time I see her. Such a beauty and she shines ever so bright in that subdued performance!

She had that incredibly attractive personality and seemed genuine with a moral base and wasn't full of *beep* like most of gals in the series. There was an attractiveness about her because she didn't "bs" you. She was working as a prostitute and she was saving money to move to California and was up front about it. There was no lying in her even about her morphine use. She had a moral integrity that made her more attractive.
All of that on top of her being incredibly beautiful and sexy.

shareI certainly did not think Ms. Palladino was particularly attractive. Part maybe was I was not at all impressed by her acting, but I also thought she was a rather run of the mill brunette with no sexual allure. It's not for nothing they got rid of her.
For her age, @39 when the filming of this show began, certainly Gretchen Mol is a very attractive woman. For a younger woman the one who played Pearl is perhaps the best. I even like the way they sometimes could show Kelly Macdonald to great effect while at other times they played that down in keeping with her character.
I like Aleksa because her and Jimmy look so hot together. I have re-played their fu** scenes more times than I can count.
On that note, Jimmy makes everyone look hot. Gretchen Mol may be his mommy, but she shines standing next to him.
And I also love Kelly MacDonald who still looks good years after first seeing her in Trainspotting.

also surprised nobody's mentioned van alden's Norwegian wife, she was absolutely stunning although she did turn out to be a complete bitch. but still, she looked great

The way the show portrayed Margaret made Kelly Macdonald a difficult choice for the OP's question. At times they purposely played down her beauty which after all is I guess one could say more unconventional a beauty than say Gretchen Mol's. But to clarify my previous vote for Ms. Mol here, I think were it not for the way they portrayed Margaret at times, or if you prefer "in real life", Ms. Macdonald is probably my favorite.
Take the way she was shown in season five, especially in the apartment with Nucky at the meeting with the lawyers and Mrs. Rothstein. Or with Joe Kennedy. She was stunning.
I couldn't decide between Aleska and Gretchen. They both were about the same level of attractiveness. Gretchen/Gillian was just sexy as hell the first 3 seasons though. So that sex appeal kind of gave her the edge slightly over Angela imo.
Daughter Maitland was gorgeous too, she looked even better in Barbershop 3.

shareYeah. She was cute too and probably had the best looking boobs on the show. But Aleksa's tragic character and her beauty...I don't think I have ever felt that strongly about a female character on a tv show before. So much so, I stopped watching the show after her demise!

Over the complete series I'd say Gretchen Mol wins, she's truly beautiful and is present throughout. Still, I felt really bad for how things turned out for her character, I can only suppose that Gillian was subjected to a Hysterectomy?
I'd say a special mention should go out to Wrenn Schmidt. I didn't notice it during Boardwalk Empire (2010), but having seen her on other shows she could totally pass off for Gretchen's sister. When she first appeared on Tyrant (2014) I initially thought that they had cast Gretchen Mol.
Tell me about it! I stopped watching the show after the season 2 finale. Jimmy and Angela were my most favorite characters...there was simply nothing left in the show for me to root for once their storyline gets over. No redeemable characters (except Richard Harrow). And now that I know poor Gretchen goes through hell in the latter part of the show, I don't think I can watch it to completion ever!
