It was way to pop & not enough rock. I didnt really understand the building up of ''DEW We'' wanna rock. That was just awful link to that lame ass song. Cant believe the crowd was feeling that. I actually understand why they didnt win the competition in the end
shareI think somebody with really bad taste in music selected the songs while somebody with a keen grasp of the history of rock music wrote the script. They should have let the screenwriter select the songs. Bread along with the Carpenters & The Association were the lamest rock bands of the 60's early 70's. They were the acts your big band parents would claim as their favorite new band.
They covered a song by Bread? What were they thinking?

I thought in the terms of ska soundscapes mixed with pop sensibilities the song did well enough. It certainly does itself better than a good deal of late-90s "third wave ska" acts and it maintains a good energy and decent arrangement. As for the audience digging it; I suppose most of those kids wouldn't of been exposed to the style before so they attached on something new and more complex then what they would be used to previously.
