"Lame" is not too harsh for the film..."over praised" is probably more what I would describe it. Yes it was based on Mr. Fuller's personal experiances from WWII which gave the film a more "authentic" and "credible" feel to it. However, I felt it was too long, the story somewhat repetetive wihtout much character development, and the dialogue too generic. Still a good movie, but not the best.
Have not seen Windtalkers, so I can't comment about that.
1968 Tunnel Rats might actually be that diamond in the rough for Boll. I have pretty much written off Boll as the worst director of all time but this film might actually be a decent film...maybe the only film that Boll gets right. But then again, we'll have to wait and see.
