*VC/USA soldiers holding their fingers on the trigger no matter the situation, everyone is a rookie?
*Breach of camp (where was the perimitter guard? <--- worst part in my opinion
*Assault rifles in a tunnel?
*Smoking during a patrol even in VC areas, yeah let's ruin our position
*none of the actors in the movie knew how to fire an m60
*a lot of the actors had their aims lowered on the ground or worse had their weapons shoulder slinged even in a hot zone
*why the *beep* were the VC'S carrying AKMS for?, and some of the Americans had M16A2!?!?!
*blackhawk chopper in the intro, huh?
*modern jeeps???????
*everyone/including vets have new fresh uniforms

Here's my favorite: The idiot soldier who were suppose to head back and find his sgt, but instead of returning to the safe area where his friends guarded the hole, he went in another direction, nobody is this stupid and of course a virgin-i cry when I kill an american kills him with a bamboo stick.

I could just go on and on, Boll could have fixed this if he'd done some basic research or common sense.

I won't call people morons, but if this considered a 10 movie which almost 200 obviously clueless or more than likely fakes is plain embarrassing. This makes every other 10 movie make it worth less because of those that consider this a PERFECT film. Terrible & all that rated this 10 should be ashamed of themselves. Go watch some top 250 films here on IMDB, re-watch this and HOPEFULLY you will realize the error of your ways.

I couldn't get over how every time they showed a soldier in the tunnel-- they had their flashlight pointed at their own face!

Or the two guys who had just fought tooth and nail to survive then just stand like they are watching fireworks as bombs fall on their heads?

The ineptitude of this unit makes weekend paintballers look like pro soldiers.

These are a bunch of nerd complaints. It's not a documentary, it's just trying to tell a story. Go back to the Star Trek boards where you can complain that the laser beams aren't consistent with the last films or some *beep* like that.

He has STANDARDS and a sense of logic, get over it.

A lot of people actually like movies that make sense instead showing us total bs.

Firstly, who of any real standing says it's realistic? Secondly, who cares if it's realistic? It's a drama, not a documentary. Boll has said in numerous interviews that the Vietnam setting is irrelevant. It could have easily been set during any war in which the protagonists are fighting a losing battle. He chose Vietnam simply because the form was something familiar, and because WWII had been done to death following recent films by Eastwood, Lee and the upcoming (now released) film from Tarantino (which also isn't realistic IN THE SLIGHTEST... seriously, check it out, you might have a heart attack!).

More to the point - Apocalypse Now isn't a realistic depiction of the Vietnam War. Soldiers didn't disappear into the jungle to command an army of natives and spout William Blake from the shadows of an ancient temple. It was an attempt to visualise the insanity of war through the cinematic medium; which is why Apocalypse Now is infinitely superior to the more closely researched likes of Platoon or Casualties of War.

I suppose you think all war films should subscribe to the dreary "aren't we taking this really seriously" nonsense of Spielberg's manipulative Saving Private Ryan?
