Sword and Sorcery genre fantasy film

After finishing the movie, I think I can discern what so many viewers are dissatisfied with the movie. They don't dislike the movie but they feel it fell short. It's my impression that this movie SOLOMON KANE ended up just being one of many of the 'sword and sorcery' fantasy genre films among others like, Conan the Barbarian, The Beastmaster, Sword and Sorcery, Hawk the Slayer, Hundra, Kull, Krull, Red Sonja, et al.

I'm not certain that's what the late author, Robert E. Howard had in mind when he penned, 'Solomon Kane'. But no matter what, that's where Solomon Kane resides in by definition. It is indeed a sword and sorcery, or, as it used to be called, a swords and sandals genre fantasy film. Robert Howard was simply ahead of his time. That said, there's nothing stopping confident producers and filmmakers from trying another Solomon Kane, using their experience from the first one to make a better sequel.

A sequel would have to be much less sword and sorcery and far less on the CGI. The plot would be more horror, mystery, and action combined, with some good-written drama if possible.
