Just noticed that rotten tomatoes has a listed limited release date for later this year. Anyone heard anything more about that? None of the official websites have mentioned a US distributor.
I don't think it's slated for a US release anytime soon. I imported the UK blu-ray.. but be aware that it is NOT region-free. It's Region B and will not play in US players. I had to burn it to a region-free BD-R to play it in my US players.
well i dont need to worry then because i have the import of Highlander the Immortal Edition and it is a region B but it plays just fine on my BR player. thanks if it is not released by the time i get another job i will just import it.
I prefer the opportunity to judge that for myself. If it's bad, then it's my time that's wasted and I have no one to blame but myself. If I'm never allowed to find out if I like it or not, then others have made a choice for me. It looked interesting. Can only hope it shows up on cable.
It's not Ishtar for crying out loud. It's a nice introduction to a lesser-known (but equally badass) REH character. We can't keep making Conan movies over and over... Let's get some more Kane! I just ordered the DVD (I don't have a region-free blu-ray player). I would gladly support this film if it came here to the States. I want to see the rest of the trilogy!
(I do apologize to the ghost of REH for Kull the Conqueror...)
I saw it released in Moundsville, West Virginia... Saw a bootleg vendor with a copy for sale. Had alot of other recent films. I almost said something about how it wasn't even released in theater in the US yet... But just walked away.
It was out here in Taiwan... I didn't see it, but I saw some trailers at other movies, it looked like a decent movie to me. I had no idea it didn't get a US release until just now when I remembered I never saw it come up on Box Office Mojo and came here to see what was up with that.
Yeah, still no release info. I guess, though, with Lionsgate's "Season of the Witch", and Revolver's "Black Death", the Sword&Sorcery market is prolly a bit too full this time around.
take it from a UK cinema goer, this film was absolutely excellent. anyone who says its a "Travesty" clearly didn't understand what kind of film it was going to be and obviously just expected a pile of crap US holywood horror/b movie. It is a sweeping fantasy epic that actually boils relatively slowly which is what I like because it means there is actual character development. Something severely lacking in most cack found at the moment. The film is brilliant, dark, disturbing and the build up to the end is heavy with tension and excitement and it really puts you firmly in solomon's corner after all the hell he goes through
I just watched this movie and I was very impressed. I would like to see a region 1 dvd/blu-ray release. The only way I could watch it was going on bit torrent and now I kinda feel guilty about it. If I could buy it here in the states I would.
Never got a U.S. distribution deal. I don't get that, since it would surely make money on DVD, especially when the CONAN remake comes out. They could even put "From the Creator of Conan the Barbarian" on the cover, if they wanted to.
Ya. It kind of sucks because I have been wanting to see this movie since I first heard they were filming it. Gah. Sometimes I get so annoyed with the US and how many international films have such trouble finding a distributor. But movies like The Bounty Hunter or other such rubbish get made and widely released. Huh? Lol....I don't feel strongly about this at all. ;)
