Just watched this for the first time...

...And loved it.

I had heard of the film but it vanished so fast it was like it was totally under the radar as far as films. And also I was unaware the character was a creation of R.E. Howard, that probably added to my enjoyment of the film, having only known his other characters Conan, Kull, and Red Sonja.

The final battle with the demon did detract a very slight amount from it since it was so obviously CGI, I would have preferred the final battle had been against the sorcerer and me and my friend kept referring to Solomon as "Discount Hugh Jackman" since there are so many similarities between him and Van Helsing. But those are very minor points.

All in all I liked the movie and that is enough for purchasing the DVD in my book.

Your opinion has been noted, reviewed, and dismissed. Thank You.

I only got to see it recently as well. I hope there will be a sequel in the future.

Those similarities exist solely because the makers of Jackman's CGI-overkill trashfest stole the basic look and character of Howard's Solomon Kane and slapped the name Van Helsing on it. Stoker's Van Helsing is supposed to be a studied, learned professor, not some holy warrior/martial arts priest. It's a pity that most people who see this film(and that probably won't be alot), will have the exact same initial reaction you did.

Glad to see you liked the film, though.

It's a fun movie and it's good you loved it.

But "Discount Hugh Jackman?" How many "Everything wrong with" videos have you watched on Youtube?
