That touchscreen they use in the film...

the one where they drag those photos/folders is pretty cool

thought it was clunky & load when she slides it. Tablets are like that.

Some day technology will work. Until then the programmers are muppets.

I thought that *beep* they wore on their feet was cool. what do you call them? Shus? Shooos?

I think you know what I'm gettin' at Mr. President. We're gonna kill us a mummy.

Yes, they are cool because they are Hollywood inventions. They don't exist in real life.

Wrong!

Thanks for that long and well intelligently displayed explanation on my error. I am sure you did really well in all of your subjects in Middle school...

Actually, I did. I made straight As all the way through graduate school where I got advanced degrees in mathematics. Thank you for being interested.

Of course, when I was that age there was no sch thing as "Middle School." We went from Elementary School to Junior High School to High School to College.

If you were to do a little research before taking a stance and making such a silly statement, I wouldn't have had to make such a reasoned, comprehensive retort.

There. Is that better for you?

Yet another empty post.

Thank you Your approbation means the world to me.
You would think after the first, you would provide an example of a government agency that uses such touchscreen.

Or, you could give your curriculum vitae that proves you are an expert to give such a definitive statement. Given that industry already uses touch tables and screens (two weeks ago I put a request for research funds in my company to buy a couple), and labs like MIT's CSAIL are already using stuff even more impressive, I am pretty sure the government has them as well. They watch CSAIL even closer than we do.

The one I want is a table like a desk where the entire surface is a touch surface, and people are working on some cool software like the ability to lay a tablet on the surface and transfer files to and from the tablet by dragging them onto/off the surface of the desk. Very cool stuff!
By all means please educate us, or stay quiet.

Well, now, see... That means nothing to me.

Okay look, I admit I was being snarky, and I apologize to you for that. I sometimes get my hackles up when I see people hold forth and yet be wrong, and there's no reason for it. It was childish and unnecessary on my part.

That may or may not help at this point, but I am serious.

The industry really has some amazing things going on, like the bendable display/touch surfaces. Imagine a surface like a piece of paper. You display a file on it, and page through the file by flicking the corner of the surface. You lay it on the touch table to move files to and from it like mentioned above. Imagine a display surface that displays and is controlled like a smartphone, but is flexible and wraps around your wrist.

Both of those products are being beta tested now.

Wow. You really wanted to go that route.

Well, fine by me, child. I have removed the tarnish from my soul by being nice, and if you choose to continue like a petulant, unlettered, spoiled brat who makes definite statements about an industry he clearly know nothing about, that's on your head, not mine.

I don't need to sully myself debating with you. There is no point because there is clearly only one of us in this "conversation" who actually knows what he's talking about, and it isn't you.

Too bad. I thought you were really asking for info. I should have realized how empty, childish, and churlish you were.

Well, as I say, my soul is untarnished now from this exchange. Good luck cleaning yours up.

So, back to the original statement you made - it was a stupid, unsubstantiated statement made out of ignorance and... wait for it... wrong!

Yawn

I agree. You are rather boring.

Education can be your friend, here.

Here is some more on the amazing, morphing touchscreens soon to show up in a pocket near you!

The local Microsoft office here in Houston has one of these in their reception area. It's a lot of fun to play with.

I just got back from the Microsoft Build Conference in San Francisco last week, and there is a lot more like this coming down the road - although frankly the thing I am more excited about is the 3D printing, which is now native in Windows 8.1.

YEah they do. They are called Microsoft surface tables. An office I worked in made a lot of software for them...they have been around since 2007.

They were developed for use in restaurants and retail and things like that.

Well, haven't seen this one yet so maybe I'm saying something stupid but I did saw the original and there they didn't even need touchscreen, they just used movement to control everything
