films specification

I am interested to know because we have all this new technology.
When I red the films specification for this Movie ,it sad the following -

-------------------------
Cinematographic process
Digital Intermediate (2K) (master format)
Super 35 (source format)

Printed film format
35 mm (anamorphic) (Kodak Vision 2383)
D-Cinema

Aspect ratio
2.35 : 1
----------------------------

1.- For me I do not understand this. Was this film made digitally or not using a digital camera ???

2- Was it recorded in Bluray ?

3- What is the films resolution ???? example 1023 x 960 ???

reply

1. It wasn't filmed with a digital camera. They used physical film which was then transferred over digitally. It's why they decided 3D conversion would cost too much.

2. BluRay is a storage device for home entertainment. You can't record things in BluRay unless you're using a home video camera and no professional is going to do that.

3. Real physical film doesn't have a "resolution". They have an "aspect ratio" as they mention.

From Wikipedia:
"The aspect ratio of an image is the ratio of the width of the image to its height, expressed as two numbers separated by a colon. That is, for an x:y aspect ratio, no matter how big or small the image is, if the width is divided into x units of equal length and the height is measured using this same length unit, the height will be measured to be y units. For example, consider a group of images, all with an aspect ratio of 16:9. One image is 16 inches wide and 9 inches high. Another image is 16 centimeters wide and 9 centimeters high. A third is 8 yards wide and 4.5 yards high."

In other words, Sorcerer's film has the widest of the widescreen. The resolution will depend on what monitor it's being shown on, what resolution that monitor/tv has been set to and what cables/wires are being used to send the film from storage/BluRay/dvd/etc to the monitor/tv.
