Nicolas Cage reminds me A LOT of Gene Wilder in this

...The way he talks/looks...Anybody else see it? (For those of you that don't know, Gene Wilder played Willy Wonka in the 70s Chocolate Factory movie.)

Yes, that's me...Little miss Lee...

I agree! It especially shows in the scene where he gives young Dave the ring.

reply

I can sort of see that, yeah.

Though I personally think that in the posters -- where he's looking back over his shoulder at you -- he looks an awful lot like Wierd Al.

reply

Yes, I noticed that, too. I've always liked Gene Wilder.
Also, when Balthazar is in his long coat and hat, he reminds me of Gabriel Van Helsing from the movie Van Helsing.
Three positive images for me. :)

An interview with Jon Turteltaub included a reference to Wilder as Willy Wonka, indicating that the resemblance was deliberate.

Yes he does, LOL. He does reminds us Gene Wilder, but I think his acting, or the character, are quite different.

But to me he definitely looks a lot like Dustfinger in "Inkheart", I mean, the characters-type is basically the same, but NicolasĀ“ character in this is different.

And now with the "Season of the Witch" it will be very much like watching Balthazar Blake again there.

Do you recognize my voice...?

reply

I would have to agree with you, but Balthazar doesn't remind me of Wonka personally. He reminds me of Gene Wilder as Dr. Frederick Frankenstein (pronounced FRAHN-ken-SHTEEN) from Young Frankenstein. See at 26 mins into The Sorcerer's Apprentice "This...must...not...happen!" Hahaha, that is just like Frankenstein.

reply

i cna see the connection, yes, though i dont believe it to be deliberate.

AT least Cage has managed to revert to his "human" face, since some of his latest efforts ("Next", even "National Treasure 2", for example) have shown him in a very weird face+hair combo.
Here he is ok, in that respect. ;)

reply

I saw it immediately. Totally Gene Wilder

Reverting back to his "normal hair"? Are you kidding me? When this film started, my first thought was that this is yet one more film with NC with crazy hair.

To each their own...opinion
