Seriously, I know it's a lab and probably needs to be cleaned every now and then, so perhaps having one or two mops in a cupboard somewhere is appropriate, but what, 20-30 mops? Really?

Yes that's right, I bought the sorcerers living thousands of years and manipulating matter with their minds, but the number of mops bugged me.

it is not a lab, it is a converted station of some kind... it has a 'locker room' so i would guess it needs more than a few. My gym at school has 8 and its pretty small.

It's all about suspending disbelief.

Also, mickey mouse had a lot of mobs dancing around. I could be wrong, but i guess that was the point.

There was originally only one mop in the Fantasia short. When Micky couldn't stop the mop he chopped it up. All the pieces regenerated into new mops. Ergo, the many mops.
