Idea for Sorcerer's Apprentice 2

I think the move needs a part two. An idea would be if Veronica was to have a child, a little daughter. I like the name Lily. Veronica dies in childbirth and Balthazar raises the child by himself with the help of Dave and Becky. (They don't really have to be a major part of the movie) Horvath and Morgan's daughter want to destroy Balthazar and take Lily.
But Lily has a secret guardian. As she watches Balthazar slip under Morgan's daughters powers the guardian realizes Lily is not the only one who will need saving. There is a lot more to the story of course but what kind of movie would it be if the whole plot was revealed.

Certainly, the movie is just begging for a sequel. Veronica dying in childbirth is too cruel for my liking, considering all the heartache that Balthazar has already gone through for her sake.
Dave and Becky as child care providers? Hmm, I wouldn't expect either of them to be much help in that department, though I appreciate that you'd like to have the pair involved in the story somehow. I'm with you in thinking that the focus of a sequel would be much better suited for Balthazar's continuing story.
Who is Morgan, and why would Horvath father a child with her? Why would their daughter (presumably no older than Balthazar's) want to destroy Balthazar and take her peer? In order for Morgan's daughter to be villain material, she would have to be older, possibly a result of a pre-1929 liaison between her parents (which means she would be at least age 81 by the year 2010).
Why would a secret guardian be the one to save Balthazar? Isn't that more fittingly Dave's job? As the Prime Merlinian, and with as close a relationship as they developed in TSA, isn't Dave the logical candidate for rescuer?
I enjoy reading sequel ideas; not asking for the whole plot to be revealed, but thinking through a synopsis to see if it could work with existing story canon. Unless I'm mistaken, that's what any editor would require before accepting a manuscript. It's not like we have to worry about spoilers for a movie that hasn't yet been made. :)

I know having Veronica dying is cruel but in most Disney films one parent is usually lost. The story would start several ears after the child is born. I would think she would be about 8. So it is more of a suggestion that Veronica is gone. Dave and Becky would not be care providers. I was thinking if they appeared at all it would be a very small part. Maybe with them moving away to where Dave has gotten a great position at a University. Morgan is short for Morgana. Her daughter would be an adult hidden from the world by her mother to keep her safe. She was under the same spell as the others and would not age. Horvath is not the father. He is merely in league with her to get his revenge on Balthazar. What I see happening is Morgana's daughter. Lets just call her Kate because its easier when referring to her. No one knows about her except Horvath and that is because she made herself known to him. She befriends Balthazar and works on seducing him (yes I know its a DIsney movie) He is hesitant at first but she begins to make headway.
There is another character in the story. Another young woman who leaves in the apartment down the hall. She has been a good friend to Lily and Balthazar and Lily adores her. I am a sap for happy endings and eventually the neighbor, whom we find out is also a sorceress and daughter of a powerful wizard, gets the guy in the end.

Yeah, depriving a child of at least one parent is a Disney tendency, unfortunately. Really, what do they have against an intact family? Anyway...
Kate would have been alone since 740 AD. Why would she not seek out Horvath between that time and 1929, if only to figure out a way to release her mother? Horvath was obviously well-known as probably the premier Morganian, second only to Morgana herself.
Honestly, I don't like the idea of Balthazar falling for anyone but Veronica. He's been in love with this woman for a very long time, most of it while she was unavailable. If she's gone again, I imagine he'd be true to her memory, just as he's been for the last 1200-plus years. He should also have gained enough wisdom and experience over those years to realize when he's under (sneak) attack. Kate might be able to fool him for a little while, but not long enough for her to make headway. "Clever Balthazar" ought to know the tricks by now.
Why must there be a guardian sorceress in the story at all? Why pair up Balthazar with an OC (original character) instead of just letting him stay with his true love Veronica? Surely the Kate storyline can be worked in without breaking up the canon couple. It might even be more effective to see Veronica take down her would-be rival, and tell off her former colleague Horvath in the process. She didn't get a whole lot of screen time in TSA; this would be a good way to make up for that.
I love happy endings, too. I'd love to see the Blake family stay intact, secure in that "happily ever after" schtick for which Disney is also known.

There is still alot to work out I admit. I don't want to dimenish Balthazar's love for Veronica in any way and yes he went through a lot just to be with her. That's true love. People in real life lose loved ones all the time and some not all I agree love again. I know from experience.

Balthazar is powerful but not all powerful and being alone with a child makes him a little more vulnerable. Everyone needs help sometimes.

Believe me Disney is not running to me for ideas on a sequel. So far now everyone is safe and as far as I know nothing has been written for a part 2.

reply

Sure, it's fine to get help sometimes, but that doesn't mean Balthazar has to let this witch get her hooks into him. He already has a woman who, by what you've indicated, cares for both him and his daughter. I just don't see the need to introduce a new love inerest when Veronica serves just fine.
I wonder if Disney even considers fan ideas at all, or if everything is based on what the show biz "experts" recommend. I suspect that we who care put a lot more thought into the TSA universe than the bigwigs do, maybe because our target audience doesn't have to include such a large age span. Maybe that's one reason that we don't write for Disney in the first place. :)

Ok, back in the old days before Morgana was totally unbearable and still younger and seductive I would say and don't think I've lost my mind but she had a fling with Merlin and this all happen in Avalon. It's just ideas anyway.

Veronica dies in childbirth

Sorry, eye-roll worthy cliche that happens all too often. The only thing that happens more often than a mother dying in childbirth is a man being convicted of a 'crime he didn't commit'.

You clearly have creativity. Use it. Improve this part of the story.

You're forgetting that Dave is the PRIME MERLINIAN! It would make more sense to have Dave,Becky and their child (a direct descendant of Merlin!) As main characters in the next movie. Besides Nick Cage & Monica B aren't getting any younger!
I love them, they still look great & would want them in the sequel but as "God parents" /protectors of Dave's offspring/ Merlin's descendant!
Would LOVE a sequel! LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!
