He knew he was going to bury Dolan from the get go. No matter what type of an 'offer' was made. I don't understand why he didn't get Dolan to throw the briefcase up with the 1.2 million bucks in it??????????? Why the hell would he bury it? That is the least he deserves for this prick killing his wife and it was easy and incredibly attainable. Little things like that bother me so much. He is a teacher. That money would have gone a long way. It is not like he is some moral driven guy who didn't want to have 'dirty' money. He is killing another human & he said he doesn't believe in God. Why on earth NOT take that money before fulfilling his plan? ANNOYING!!!!!! Unrealistic. Well, a lot of the movie was very unrealistic which doesn't bother me at all, it is a movie after all and it is made for entertainment purposes. Most movies fall under that description. Buuuuuut........the not taking the over 1 million dollars in cash money was just too fake and unbelievable to me. Other than that, it was a fun watch. Not great by any means but I enjoyed the film and would recommend it. 5 out 10.

Although the movie did lack in portraying his obsession to the extent the book did.

He could always go in there a week later and fish the $$$ out after Dolan was dead. I was hoping it would actually end that way. But as for why he didn't take the $$ while he was burying him? He knew Dolan had a gun, and he knew Dolan couldn't be trusted. He purposely made the shaft barely big enough for the cadillac, so Dolan "throwing it up" would have been out of the question.

I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. I respectfully disagree with chessjunky in that I think the movie did a good job of showing his obsession, although I will concede that the novella conveyed a certain amount of creepiness that the movie didn't.

OT: Not to be a total troll, but...because he doesn't believe in god, he's immoral?

No amount of money could bring his wife back, or undo the damage Dolan has done to those girls. I thought this was a pretty good revenge flick. It kept me interested until the end. I really thought Robinson was going to get caught, but I'm glad justice was served, in some odd way or another. They both got what they deserved...or something.

he was gonna wait for dolan to die then dig it up after he loses his job for being a horrible teacher (tired,depressed,spaces out= youre fired)
