The kids in Robinson's class

I thought it was strange how none of them asked their teacher if there was something wrong with him. I know they were kids but even a kid could tell that something was not right with their teacher if he was acting the way he did. None of the kids even said a word and one girl ran out of the room because she was "scared." Still, you figured at least a couple of kids would have said SOMETHING instead of all of them acting like mutes.

They all probably knew his wife was dead, and probably assumed that he was still in mourning.

But this one's eating my popcorn!

I know what you mean, whitehorse88. But I can remember at least two of my High School teachers were noticeably depressed, for years. They were functional and showed up to work most days. I still think of my teachers whenever I hear the word "depression". They're my depressed role models.

So no, I'm not shocked that depressed Mr. Robinson wasn't laid off. Some school districts have staff loyalty, I suppose. They stick with their people even when they go through hard times.

Compared to my experience with depressed teachers, Robinson wasn't so bad. He mostly quietly moped. At least he didn't talk to the class and try to suck them down into the depression hole they were in. Talk about inappropriate behavior around minors.

No two persons ever watch the same movie.
