I think the dialogue wasn't King's original

Robinson was mad with grief, and his hatred for Dolan occupied his mind. After capturing Dolan in the pit, he spent a lot of time "toying" with him, much too long for someone with vengeance on their mind. He reminded me of the cat who toys with the mouse before killing it. As other posters have noted, I too wonder how the explosives were put under Robinson's wife's car with the cops on stakeout. Witness protection personnel would have removed all traces that would lead to them (their car? ROFLMAO). I like Stephen King, but the screenplay should have been done better.

I haven't seen the movie, but in the story he was absolutely driven for revenge, but he was in no way mad with grief. He was cold, and calculating, and he did toy with Dolan in the pit. After it was done he had some sanity issues while coping with his actions, but that was different than what you're talking about.
