What was the killer's goal? (spoilers, I guess?)

Did he want them to figure it out or not? The way the whole premise of the movie is set up suggests that he considered each of them 11.11111111111% equally culpable for his son's death ("up until now the order has been random" and the fact that whoever's left when they figure it out just gets to walk away scot-free), which doesn't make much sense. Putting aside the fact that there's no realistic way he could have known Leon, Sully, Christian, Jackson, or Father Francis' connections to the others, there's no sense in considering, say, Sully or Father Francis (the most removed of them all) as culpable as Kelley or Mrs. Chang. If anything, Kelley and most obviously Coogan already know the horrible truth that's meant to be revealed the killer's game, so what's the point of keeping either of them alive at all to potentially "learn" it?

I like to think that the kill was lying when he said the order of deaths was random. He would/should do this anyway because it prevents the others from knowing whois next and doesn't give away any hints as to the reason they are there. If you think about it, with the exception of Kelley, the order of kills was startign with those most obviously responsible and corrupt (the black guy and the priest died out of turn due to their own interference). The first guy to die was a known drug dealer and robber and his actions sett he ball rolling for all the misfortunes to come. I think the priest, the black guy and the cop would have been slated to get killed last (if at all, Given that he police had already been notified when the killer entered the room for the last time seems to indicate he may have intended to stop the killings there anyhow). Kelley was spared because she was the only "Bad Guy" who the killer thought may have been capable or remorse and contrition since the others were scumbags and she was a mother/ADA. So the set up here was mostly for her. Everythign was recorded while she was forced to confess to her crimes, then when she was released she could either a- accept responsibility for what she ahd done and seek forgiveness; in which case she would be freed with the others and any evidence of her confession erased by the killer after she left or b- what actually happened. in which case the there was no chance to erase the tapes and when the police secured the crime scene they will discover fully documented evidence of her murdering the survivors.

i disagree. i see no reason as to why the order of deaths would not be random. also, if it would have been recorded, they would have shown us. sorry.

actually i think that the whole thing made little to none sense. this script couls have used some more conclusive actions overall ... and a more innovative ending.

neverthess, i kinda enjoyed it.
