How the hell did they not end this movie like this?? (Spoilers)

It's so obvious and simple and satisfying....

I don't need a fun little flick i had a good time watching have some vague ambiguous ending.

Here's how it should have ended.

In the very last shot, just as she's waling towards the lighted area *BLAM* she gets shot and thrown back against the wall. Dead.

Cut to black.

I mean if you want meaning, that's meaning. She survived the whole ordeal with the whole reason for her being there was that she turned her back on someone innocent. she gets out, doesn't learn her lesson, kill her two cell mates...and killing her off would be saying "nope, not gonna get away with it this time you dumb bitch.

Seriously, how did the not end it like that??

reply

That's an easy answer. HER MOM PRODUCED THE MOVIE.

Of course they wanted the possibility of a sequel. You know that is why it's ends the way it does.

EPIC WIN FOR MOM

Then the movie would have been called "Ten Dead," wouldn't it?

And we wouldnt want them to ignore the integrity of the title. I would have been really unsatisfied if ten died instead of nine. I was counting the whole time and would have been really let down if exactly nine didn't die. *end sarcasm*

OR - just call the movie Ten Dead. Point is, the movie wasn't good enough for a thought provoking ending or a sequal. Another fun movie ruined by pretentious filmmakers.

House of 9 was better.

reply

Or call it "Sabrina the Teenage Corpse"

LMAO!

Ending I hoped for...

She shot the father in the chest (but he doesn't die, because of his vest) then he says the same lines "Everything has been recorded, everyone has been watching you, what are you going to do now Kelley?" Then since she figures she has been watched, her "secret" will be out, and she will be caught, she turns the gun on herself.
Then the other two guys were let go, or could have been killed, either way works....
Then the father lives on to make a sequel.

I agree with shannonvirgo's ending. That's where I thought they were going to go with it, which I would have been satisfied with. The way it actually ended was pretty awful.

Having the cops kill Kelley wouldn't have made much sense. Shooter called them and reported the crime so they knew the killer was a man. They probably would have been working under the assumption that Kelley was one of the victims and was just trying to get away. I don't think the ending would have improved much having the cops shoot an unarmed woman who they would have thought was a victim at the time. Other than the fact that Kelley would have gotten what she deserved.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE!!! bad guys getting away!!! it's so nice to see that rather than happy happy crappy endings where the bad guys are defeated and all the good people are happy and fake- really isnt life, life is mean harsh and wrong, embrace the badness :D woo for the killer! lol

reply

she wasnt doing anything wrong, she was just trying to keep her job and climb up the ladder, so really, you do have to step on top of people to get higher in life, you go girl!!!

reply

how can you say she didnt anything wrong? she sent an innocent guy to jail. and she KNEW he was innocent. she wasnt doing her job she was ensuring her future at the cost of others.

either way this movie was generally crap

edit: that was probably sarcasm wasnt it?

either way this movie is still crap

reply

no, no sarcasm- if i was in her position and it was either me losing my career or him being sent down, im sorry, but i dont even know him so.... bye bye mr innocent.

reply

She should have shot herself!

reply

Wow. I really hope you've changed your mind in the past couple of years. Try not to have such a selfish personality.

reply

No! That is so fricking conventional and predictable. Don't you appreciate it when movies end in a way which throws you for a loop? And the way it ended contains "meaning" as well. Everyone thought the masked guy was the worst guy among them, including the masked guy himself. And it turns out to be her?! That's awesome!

I also want to point out that it is objectionable to treat an ending in which the bad guy (or gal) gets his comeuppance as a 'happy' ending. It makes a mockery of the people who died. Consider the priest for instance. Once he was shot there was no way that movie could avoid being a tragedy. He most definitely did not deserve it (nor did the Chinese woman). To try to leave us with a warm glow that justice has been done just because the bad ones get what they deserve is, to my mind, disgusting.

That would be too typical Hollywood to end it so easy. This ending was far superior. It doesn't end with a bang, but with a whimper. And she does end with a whimper. We know that her life is ruined, despite all her insane maneuvering, with everything caught up to her. She doesn't die. So what? She loses her practice, and becomes a "wanna be" in the projects, with her own child knowing she murdered "dad", who came across as easily the most likable and decent person in this scenario.

No, this was a superb ending. A real Hitchcock ending.

Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time
that's not funny!

reply

This ending was LAME.

If "everyone is watching" like the father said, then it is known she is a killer. She is not skilled enough to spend the rest of her life on the run, plus, she has a child she likely would try to bring with her, and she would be caught trying to get him.

Also, she never would have escaped from the building. When the cops came, they wouldn't all come in one entrance and stick together in a group. Other cops would be outside, ensuring the killer did not slip away.

The ending was ridiculous. And that's a shame, because the rest of the movie was entertaining, although not believable (how did the father know who snuck the evidence envelope back into the evidence room? He couldn't have, because only the Assistant DA and the cop himself knew). Other than some impossible plot points, the story was solid and entertaining. But the ending... boooooo.

If this was a "Hitchcock ending", Hitchcock was a talentless fool.

Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelt of Ellllldeberries!

I thought the ending was going to be like this:
The judge lady goes to the computers, takes the hard disks and destroys the evidence, she blames the old guy and remains free for ever but with the guilty (or not) for the things she's done
