A film way ahead of its time

This is a film that can be called a "mature version of 'Saw'". It's a film made way ahead of its time, but also retro to a better age of story telling.

Films before about 1965 were made for "realist" generations, for people who had hands on learning with Nature, who went through trench warfare years, who were more streetwise in terms of street fighting, animal instinct, and real Psychological behavior. They knew what later generations tried to learn in school, and what today's generation try to learn from internet and films.

As opposed to the ridiculous SAW movies, we have a more realistic look at a guy out for revenge. He lays out the best made plans, as well as a person could realistically lay out, especially on one's own.

We have people who actually believe the movie monsters of SAW, SILENCE OF THE LAMBS, and other such nonsense are credible. Idiot script writers have been produced so often that we've bred an idiot audience who can even start to believe in the super human monster. According to Hollywood, if you're evil enough, you are immortal.

Here, we get the most iconoclastic film possible in horror. It tears apart the myth. These characters make mistakes. I can actually buy into this scenario, strange as it is, because it is "credible characters in incredible circumstances."

A lot of mythology is exposed in this film, but today's generation is not ready to accept it. These are people who haven't had enough horror in their lives, so they believe in Hollywood horror. There'll come a day, unfortunately, when mass horror will sweep the first world, and then this film will make sense to the bubble boys who are so afraid of it now.

And they are afraid of it. It's a world where people aren't in total control. And that is why it's before its time. There are too many people in the world today, who are deluded into thinking they can have complete control.

Now go away or I shall taunt you a second time

There are better movies in this realistic suspense thriller genre.
This movie is really good, but has faults as well. I wouldn't call it ahead of it's time, because it uses main characters deeply rooted in stereotypes and there is nothing progressive about that.
