UNORIGINAL .... Identity + Saw = Nine Dead

Can't anyone make anything original anymore ? This is clearly a ripoff of the SAW franchise and the movie Identity only this a completely unknown cast w/the exception of Hart and Baldwin.

"Nine Dead" was originally written back in 2001. When did "Saw" and "Identity" come out?

List your source.

I know one of the writer's managers from years ago.

Personally, I love the Saw movies and I'm amazed they have been able to come up with fresh ideas after so many of them. And Identity is also awesome. Happy to see they got William Lee Scott for Nine Dead. But yeah, Nine Dead was done years before those movies came out in theaters.

If anything, it is a rip off of 12 Angry Men, Clue, Seven and The Usual Suspects.

Yeah, I mean look. I don't even take issue with using a concept and story that is totally ripped from other things...but freaking do SOMETHING different. Or at least make it a well acted suspenseful...SOMETHING.

It reminded me of An Inspector Calls (1954), from the J B Priestly stage play.

In that film, a bunch of characters are detained by a mysterious inspector (Alastair Sim) and made to realise how their individual acts of cruelty or indifference contributed to the death of a young woman.

I have never seen An Inspector Calls. Sounds interesting. I did write 9dead before Saw ever came out and Identity has always been a favorite of mine. Patrick

Hi Patrick - I hope you don't get depressed reading threads like this. I enjoyed this movie (more than Identity, which was too "in the head" for me) and if your screenplay predated the Saw franchise that makes it all the more impressive.

Hey there. No, these post do not depress me. The funniest review I ever saw was when someone said they would not wipe their @ss with the DVD. Now that person really put some time and effort into their message. And as always, be sure to check out my "Zombie Beer Run" on youtube if you want to see some amazing writing (and acting) on my part. Working on the next feature script as we speak. Hopefully that one person will find it @ss worthy. Cheers!
