I LOVED this show... But, the word Freshies just got on my nerves...

I cringed every time they said that. Like you, I loved the show, but that word just bugged me.
This is my signature.
Every time I heard the word Freshies, I thought
to myself, The Writers must have drawn a blank on what to
call them, and some YOUNG Writers assistant must have come
up with that word. Hopefully, she was fired after that.
TOTALLY unforgivable to use such a DUMB word
in a Vampire Series.

I agree! That is so Josef, but not Mick. Not our Mick. That's why, as I watched the series again this weekend, I actually wondered if Mick truly loved Beth, or if he simply mistook concern for love.
Mick did some things at times that made me question his "love" for Beth, and feeding on one of Josef's freshies (and his caring behavior around Coraline) was part of that.
Mick gave a lot of lip service to caring for Beth, but it didn't seem like he actually cared when she was actually around.

I think Mick loves Beth but the relationship had too many complications. The end of the last episode sealed their love, I believe.
As for the Freshie, I think his blood lust got the better of him for a second.
I would say the writer's interpretation of Mick varied. He was stone-cold in love and then would back off it seems. Well, he got majorly distracted by Coraline.LOL.
