I disliked Black Swan - but The Red Shoes (1948) is a staggeringly beautiful movie. Another Powell and Pressburger film, Tales of Hoffman (1951) is not as great, but does include plenty of stunning dance sequences.

I saw The Turning Point (1977) many years ago and was not all that impressed, but from what I remember it does include plenty of dancing as well as behind-the-scenes bickering and a catfight between Shirley MacLaine and Anne Bancroft, so you may wish to check it out.

A more recent film - Dracula: Pages from a Virgin's Diary (2002) is an unusual balletic telling of the famous story. Worth a look.

Ballet is nothing like this (or "The Turning Point", or "The Red Shoes", or the absurd "Billy Elliott", or just about any other ballet movie ever made). It's just more fake ballet BS from Hollywood. No wonder the general public hates ballet.
