After watching this I felt exactly as I had after Repulsion

The feelings I had watching Repulsion. It was like it was able to remake Repulsion and place my gut in the same place it was during that film. With a completely different story (well not completely, but different settings) and in a different time period obviously. This movie was such a perfect throwback to those classic psychological thriller films I was amazed.

It gave me almost every feeling i had while watching Repulsion. The same emotions and creepiness throughout it was bizarre how much I felt like I was seeing a new movie that could capture that exact same feeling again for me in 2010.

Take my AIDS, please!

I could name about 10 films that have left an impact on me as strong as Black Swan. Most are of the Golden Era of Psychological Horror(Repulsion absolutely being on that list.) The Shining, Rosemary's Baby, The Tenant, The Exorcist to name a few and one recent example would be 'Enemy' and I guess I'd add 'The Witch' as well but that would be for other reasons. This creeps me the fluck out!

Repulsion and Black Swan are both fantastic films.

A thread that references both Black Swan and Enemy...hmm, I'll have to put Repulsion on the list. My experience with sub 1980s films is very lacking.

Repulsion is brilliant. The first of Polanskis 'apartment trilogy' (the other two being Rosemary's Baby and The Tenant).

It's a bit artisan though, not to everyones taste, don't expect thrills and spills. I've seen some call it Lynchian, though the film predates David Lynchs filmography.

Neat. Yeah, I'm afraid to admit, I actually haven't seen rosemary's baby or the tenant either.

I do respond favorably to the Lynch films I've seen. Should check this out, and see if they're my thing. Do you favor one of the apt trilogy over the other?

I've only seen The Tenant once, wasn't that keen on it. Definitely the weakest of the three in my opinion.

As for Rosemary's Baby vs Repulsion they're neck and neck for me. Rosemary's Baby is more conventional and straight forward, it's probably the better film technically but Repulsion is a bit more interesting and unique so they balance out roughly equal. At a push I'd maybe go for Rosemary's Baby as the best of the three. Both are must watches as far as I'm concerned, though I can't guarantee you or anyone else will definitely like them, but given their quality they're absolutely worth checking out.
