This movie is essentially Showgirls for pretentious people
Discuss.
shareHow is this "pretentious"? Because it focuses on ballet and the stresses of performing arts, and not stripping? e__e
shareHow the hell is this pretentious?
sharethe OP had the luck of getting the only three people in the world who don't think this is pretentious.
shareDo you? What is this movie pretending to be?
sharedeep? meaningful? original? good?
shareWell of course it's trying to be good. What movie doesn't? It's not trying to be deep either. It's about a performer losing her mind under pressure. You can't just throw around the word pretentious if you don't like a movie. You clearly don't even know what the word means because you can't explain why or how it's pretentious.
share"It's not trying to be deep either.'
well,that's a relief!
"You can't just throw around the word pretentious if you don't like a movie."
I DON'T.
"You clearly don't even know what the word means because you can't explain why or how it's pretentious."
well,i must not be the only one since i didn't start this thread. i do know what pedantic means though, and baby,it's you!
Yet you still haven't explained how it's pretentious. Agreeing with OP is not an explanation
shareCouldn't agree more.
shareThe film is multilayered in symbolism and maybe you only see its outer, literal meaning; hence your unfounded and ignorant accusation of pretentiousness. You're probably a fan of Michael Bay, Zach Snyder and other Hollywood degenerates.
shareyou can get it's "multilayered symbolism" at the dollar store for a discount. go watch "the red shoes"(1948)instead.
also, only a person who would fall back on the "you must watch michael bay movies" thing would get taken in by this *beep* hackjob movie.
What a well adjusted individual, so angry. Things don't make sense to you and it's all right to be confused, but upset? Also, learn the difference between its and it's.

You don't understand the film and you're hostile and condescending to anyone who states that they do- yes, you're angry, are in denial about it, it's evident throughout this thread. So angry, you're using two accounts to drive your point all over this thread.
sharewhat? what?!
oh my god. you are really sick. you know it's funny,i was going to make a joke to the effect that you and that wmccormick-61114 were the same person under a different account. now i'm wondering if it's not true! you're projecting everything else you're doing onto me,why not this?!
the funny thing is that you think there's something to "understand" about a bunch of by-the-numbers cliched arthouse tropes. as for my activity on this thread,(which i DIDN'T START)i wrote a post that was basically me rolling my eyes at the people defending this movie, and the next thing i knew i was being cross examined by some knobhead(who in retrospect might have been you)who insisted on a 110 percent literal exact definition of the word "pretentious". this in spite of the fact that people have been using that word to describe the movie since it came out. that's why i kept replying,if you want to actually go back and read the thread. y'know...as opposed to inventing your own. i had made my "point" by my second reply(well,my first really...)
you're so angry about someone not liking this movie and so unable to comprehend why that you've ignored every other negative post or review and used your overactive imagination(dumb people tend to have them) to hatch THE PLOT AGAINST BLACK SWAN,engineered by me of course...
the point where you went off your nut is when i told you to get a life. speaks volumes.

Actually, Showgirls is a Showgirls for pretentious people
I'm a connoisseur of roads. I've been tasting roads my whole life.
At least "Showgirls" had lots of nice tits.
