Most Detestable Character?

Cheese personified: Petyr "Littlefinger" Baelish makes my skin crawl. Creepy with a nazi haircut and a slimeball personality, he pimps out everyone. Littlefinger as Philosopher makes me roar: "Everyone is your enemy, everyone is your friend..."
"Sometimes when I try to understand a person's motives [sic], I play a little game..."

reply

Well it's a pretty wide field but yes Littlefinger was right up there. Then again most of them were contemptible in one way or another.

Ramsay Bolton was nothing but a loathsome sadist.

Joffrey was a sadistic, homicidal psychopath.

Cersei who yes "loved her children" and liked to fuck Jaime but wanted to have everyone else torn apart by wild horses.

Khal Drogo was only a very little better than a brutal, murderous thug.

Old Walder Frey was a filthy toad.

King Robert for abandoning his duties and drinking and whoring instead.

Lord Tywin because nothing mattered to him but continuing the Lannister Dynasty.

Bran if for no other reason than ending up on the Iron Throne. Although his petulant stupidity also got the Three Eyed Raven, Hodor and the Children of the Forest killed.

Jon Snow because he was so unbelievably stupid. Daenerys spelled out what would happen and he ignored her advice. He was in part responsible for her madness and of course in the end he killed her.

Daenerys because she couldn't just walk away and go back to Meereen after the battle at Winterfell when it was clear that Westeros didn't want her.

Tyrion because his continually woeful and ruinous advice to Daenerys should have seen him burned alongside Varys.

Arya because although she had her reasons the fact was that she enjoyed killing people.

Varys because he used children to do his dirty work regardless of the cost to them if they were caught.

But most of all George Har Har Martin for writing such a sordid, disgusting and depraved collection of novels.

Good list, well stated

reply

Wow that is a great answer!

Walder Frey was the worst, along with Gregor Clegane, "The Mountain".

reply

Ramsay Bolton, he was the one with zero redeeming qualities. (Well, him and the Mountain, and he got a lot more lines than Mountie.) Littlefinger was smart and an excellent politician, he actually would have made a pretty good king. Walder Frey at least loved his family. Joffrey wasn't entirely to blame for his own awfulness. Jamie Lannister may have gone around cripplilng little kids, but he had some good moments, and he was hawt. Cersei also had a few moments of being a loving mother, and she was fun. The Night's King was an elemental force, and human standards of morality didn't really apply there. But Bolton was absolutely lacking in redeeming qualilties of any kind!

Besides, he wasn't any fun to watch. The other top villains like Joffrey, Cersei, and Walder Frey were great fun, in a love-to-hate-them sort of way. But Ramsay was zero fun, he was entirely repellent.

"that one ball sack from Castle Black... the one that back stabbed The Lord Commander at Crastor's Keep (forget his name)"

Karl Tanner.

Yeah, Ramsey and Joffrey ... I can't believe there is any debate of that.

reply

Have to go with that one dude with blonde hair. And that other guy who cut the other guys nuts off.

reply

I found all of the "bad guy" characters rather obvious and too easy to dislike.

I also laugh at all of the simpletons who thought the blonde kid playing Joffrey was a "great actor" because he made them hate him.

reply

Yes, simpletons because they equate Game of Thrones acting to Shakespeare because they hear the English accent and get impressed in a heartbeat. Like Simon Cowell talking down to some talentless Instagram star auditioning for AGT, people think Simon's smart because he "sounds" smart.

You hate homo sapiens? You damn dirty ape!

Shout out to Craster, the guy who lived north of the Wall where he forced his daughters into incest, kept the girl babies so he could rape them when they were old enough, and sacrificed the boy babies to be murdered/eaten/turned by the White Walkers.

reply

he certainly deserves an honorable mention.

also that chap who murdered rob, mom & wife et al at the first, i believe, of the ill-fated weddings

reply

All the antagonist are supposed to be detestable pieces of crap, so they aren't even worth discussing.

Now if I had to name the character who wasn't an evil fuck that I hated anyway, I'd have to go with Tommen. Such a spineless weakling.
