I'm new to GOT and just watched the first season
I thought it was excellent. I was totally taken back by the beheading of Ned Stark. If anyone has morals on this show, it was him. Just goes to show you how a corrupt and dirty world triumphs.

Basically, it gets better, then turns average, then turns silly, then turns to complete and utter SHIT.

I was pissed off waiting for 18mths for series 8
18 months?!?! Who the hell would remember anything about the show after that long.
Being able to binge it really helps. There's a lot of story, and a lot of characters to keep up with. Waiting a year or so for another season would lose me.
I didn't mind S8. But people are right - the season was rushed. In S7 there are a few WTFs but S8 has more of them.
A great series anyways.
You won't be as disappointed as people who waited months and years... I only watched the series after it ended...
The last episode is nuts and while the last season was weak (very weak compared to the first few), but a lot of people are just upset that their favourite characters didn't turn out so well so the outrage online is a bit overblown imo...
It's still one of the best long form TV series... Well worth your time and I usually hate TV shows (prefer movies).
