So what could replace it now that it's done?
Dungeons and Dragons?
shareIt'll be awhile before something burns that bright again.
shareSad but true..
There has been several series that I have enjoyed but I think that the last time I was as excited about a show and its final season was Breaking Bad.
Same here. I’m very picky when it comes to watching a series. It has to be something that’s really well written & entertaining, because of the amount of time it takes to watch an entire series. Like you, the only show I truly enjoyed before GoT was Breaking Bad. Now that they’re both done I’m at a loss...
Since it sounds like we have similar tastes in series, if you haven’t already you should check out “The Wire” & “The Sopranos” on HBO. I know there was another, but can’t think of it right now...
I did do The Wire a few years ago and thought it was brilliant but it had, for lack of a better term...a sterile quality (kind of like Mad Men) that left me feeling sort of detached. And for years I've been eyeing The Sopranos. I'll get around to it.
As far as that era of the "golden age"..I loved 6 Feet Under..
..and I finally did do Deadwood which I liked more than loved.
A few shows I liked a lot that fly under the radar are The Americans, Kingdom (2014), Rectify.
Banshee and Orphan Black and Justified were entertaining. Ray Donovan is sometimes. So sometimes is Ozark and The Last Kingdom.. SOA was less so.
I find Westworld and Outlander disappointing despite high production values. The Handmaidens Tale is good but not for everyone.
I'm currently working on trying The Expanse, Killing Eve, Barry, Fortitude..and welcome any other suggestions..
I guess the really great shows are always going to be far and few between.
Totally understand & agree with what you said about
The Wire. I gave me the same feeling. It wasn’t that it was an enjoyable show in the sense of GoT or even Breaking Bad, but it was well done.
The Sopranos is one of those shows that the acting is just so good from the lead cast that it will always be a great show. You really should check it out. It’s as close to the feeling of something like Breaking Bad that you’ll get. 1st season is a bit slow, like many shows, but after that you won’t regret it.
I’ve always meant to check out both 6 Feet Under & Deadwood, but never got around to it... Maybe I need to finally do one of the two.
Felt the same way about Westworld, & never tried Outlander. Not really my kind of show. Romance, right?
I’ll have to check out some of the others you mentioned.
But again, when you do finally get around to diving into Sopranos, I think you’ll have a great time with it.
Try The Terror. It's awesome. Also Happy! and The Marvellous Mrs Maisel.
shareObviously nothing on this sort of scale will be able to compete for a while. But on a short term it looks like Chernobyl is promising. It's currently the number 1 rated TV series on IMDB. Since overtaken GOT which used to be second but has fallen back down to 6th I think, mainly on account of the standard of this final series.
shareI hate when people ask stupid questions like this...🙄🙄🙄🙄...
There are already good shows out there. Watch them and stop asking retarded questions...
Rest assured something will come along. I dont think there is anything out there right now though.
3 of the best ever tv shows have come out in the past 15 or 20 years, Game of Thrones, Breaking Bad and Sopranos.
There have been some other fine shows that have either not been quite up to 'A-List' or have been let down by weak endings/outside issues such as Peaky Blinders, Dexter, Lost, Narcos, House of Cards.
Am confident something else will fill the void soon enough.
