Drogon should have roasted Jon

That would have been a more appropriate ending to Jon Snow, he did deserve to die after killing Dany.

reply

But what if he didn't burn?

reply

Bite him?

reply

Brilliant!

reply

That's what I wanted. For Drogon to try to burn him and for him to be as immune as Dany, with Drogon being his new pet.

reply

I'm not so sure he wouldn't, he's only half Targaryen, he's not pure like the rest of them. But then again I have no idea how that stuff works lol

reply

He would have roasted like a marshmallow at a Scout jamboree

reply

Uhhh…no he didn’t & plus Drogon had more sense than you do & opted not to hurt him & lastly as a Targaryen you know that he can’t be burnt right?

reply

didn't read the books, but yep

reply

Jon burned his hand rather badly back in season 1 or 2, when he set a wight on fire.

He isn't burn-proof, although that's the sort of thing the season 8 writers felt free to ignore.

reply

You mean "kinda forget"

reply

I think the dragon couldn't kill a Targeryan, and anyways, Jon wouldn't have burned... there is no other reason why Drogon didn't kill Aegon...

reply

No he didn't..And he should have gotten more respect for doing it and saving everyone's ass.

reply

Everyone wanted him to kill Dany, and in the end they throw the King of the North who saved what remains of the 7 kingdoms to the Night's Watch.

reply

I think Jon was all right with it, and Bran knew he would be. He kinda looked sad because he felt guilty about killing her. Tyrion tried to take some of the load off him when he told Jon "we" did it.

reply

I always thought that if he could do what he'd liked, he'd have joined the Wildlings. Maybe Tyrion and Bran were trying to do him a favor, sending him to wildling territory.

But the fact was, nobody had anything to gain by taking him seriously, supporting him, or respecting his title as Kinginthenorth, or believing his claim to be a Targaryan… least of all Sansa. I always said she'd find a way to take the rule of the North away from him if he lived.

reply

Which is why Sansa being Queen is somewhat villainous.

I just don't get Jon's arc if there was no point to him being the rightful heir, being resurrected, riding a dragon, falli G in love with his aunt like a Targaryens, protected by the Starks or Ned, the war of Robert culminating in him, why did Bran even tell him of his parentage if it served no purpose and Bran knew everything that was going to happen, etc etc.

What was the point of it all? Why tease us for 9 seasons to just take a dump on it all in the final ep?

And unlike many here, I was hesitant to be critical of the show until it was completed. I was the same way with the new Star Wars, Star Trek, Heroes, etc.

reply

Yeah, well, I don't really get the point of the finale, and I'm wondering if all my suspicions about GRRM being unable to finish because his ideas for the finale sucked are correct. Really, what WAS the point? Was the Stark family supposed to eliminate threats to humanity from both Fire and Ice? If so, Terry Pratchett did it first, and better.

As for Sansa, yeah, I knew she'd claim her birthright one way or another, when she no longer needed Jon to fight wars against The Dead or Cersei. She did. I won't say it's wrong, because in the culture she came from it's considered right, ethical, and honorable to do whatever needs to be done to claim your birthright, and the rule of the North is absolutely her birthright. She's also a better ruler than Jon, I mean he's a complete idiot when it comes to politics, so I can't object to her actions. But nobody could call her actions nice or likeable.

reply

Exactly. It infuriated me that Jon is the rightful heir, and most of those present at the council called after the war were his own bloody family Starks and Tullys, plus his best friend Samwell Tarly and NONE of them made the SLIGHTEST effort to assert his rightful claim to the throne. When Grey Worm said Jon killed the queen, the response should have been "your queen revealed herself to be a mass-murdering tyrant, and an unspeakable monster, and it was the DUTY of the RIGHTFUL heir -- the man whom you know as Jon Snow, but whose real name is Aegon Targaryen -- to rescue his people by putting down this mad pretender."

And you know, Jon could still have gone north. They could still have made the ending come out the same, but do it by having Jon abdicate voluntarily. Have him declare that after having to destroy his own kin, and the woman he loved to boot; perhaps also have him declare he doesn't think himself fit or trust his judgment after having trusted her in the first place and events proved that trust so misplaced; perhaps even have him add that too many Targaryens have gone mad over the centuries, and perhaps its time for their dynasty to end. But have it be HIS choice.

Instead, the writers chose to make his ancestry, his rightful claim, his qualities as a leader who inspires loyalty all count for exactly nothing, and completely deprive him of his agency, thus making the character who should have been the hero of the story into a pathetic and largely useless pawn.

Dany was his Queen and his aunt - yeah she wasn't perfect, but she did free many people - she did not deserve to die! Idiot Jon listened to Tyrion - which got Dany killed and Tyrion freed.
She loved and trusted him - and he kills her as they are embracing? - Jon Snow deserves the ultimate asshole award.
He couldn't wait - try to be more persuasive? - had to kill her in that moment?

reply

So you live in an alternate Universe?

reply

Jon Snow was a very bad date, lol

reply

Lol, wtf?

Since when is about “deserve”?

reply

Agreed in GoT, it doesnt work that way.

reply

I see it this way:
Dany got 2 of Drogon's siblings killed.
Jon kills Dany.
Jon won't get Drogon killed.
