Is blue fire supposed to be cool?

is the green one just a massive dose of photosynthesis?

When I see the wight dragon's blue fire, I guess it must be much, much hotter than the regular dragon fire, because a blue flame is hotter in any case. Remember physics and chemistry lessons and bunsen burners, etc? You open the little hole at the bottom to make the flame blue and hotter? Exactly.

I thought the zombie dragon's blasts were supposed to be super-cold, not super-hot. Cold enough to kill instantly or undo matter at the molecular level, the opposite of regular dragon fire but just as destructive.

Unless it's aimed at someone with Plot Armor, of course! If Jon hid behind a rock the super-heat or super-cold didn't affect him (or the rock), although normally being close to something that's a thousand degrees above or below zero would kill anything nearby.

That was one of the few things that kind of threw me off. Unless he is like Dany and does not get burned by fire (but then the clothe should get fried at least). I just rewatched Season 2 - and there is this whole conversation between Tywin and Arya about how the Dragons melted Harrenhall.
But then again, I appreciate all the work and thought that must have gone into this episode, so I don’t nitpick too much 😬

Jon isn't like Dany on that front, one of his hands was badly burned back when he was Lord Commander Mormont's steward. Season 2, was it? But if the zombie dragon's fire is super-chilled rather than super-hot, being fireproof wouldn't have saved him anyway.

And sometimes I wish I could turn off the nitpicking part of my brain as it does tend to take the fun out of some things, but... the thing about "Game of Thrones" is that the show's writing usually DOES stand up to nitpicking! That's been one of the joys of being a fan of this show, the fact that you can delve deep into someone's background or motives, and if you start picking apart why Cersei or Littlefinger did this or that, it all holds up!

Which is why it does tend to sting a bit when they get it wrong, but this is hardly the fist time. I mean, I have my complaints about this episode, but it's not as bad as the time Arya was in Bravos and she got stabbed in the gut several times and she then fell into a filthy canal full of raw sewage, and after a nice lady put a couple of bandaids on her tum she was well enough to get up and sprint around the city. It's a pity nobody filmed a "reaction video" of my face during that one, it would have been hilarious enough to go viral.

You are correct about Jon 🤦‍♀️ And I just recently re-watched that particular episode as well 🤦‍♀️ 😅
Also correct about the Arya stabbing episode...that also bugged me.
I mean, without a question, the quality of the show has declined since they ran out of the source material.
But, I don’t know, I still believe that the show writers actually care about the story and characters and try their best. So some things I find I can overlook - even the little things do pull me out while I’m watching, but I usually get sucked in again pretty fast, so I try to, afterwards, just look at the bigger picture.
I mean, I always prefer reading books, because they always tell more- make more sense etc - but as far as shows go - they did a pretty good job.
But this is a discussion board, so constructive criticism should definitely be heard 😉

Well it's not like the source material is uniformly good, the last two books were little short of godawful and they desperately needed the ruthless editing they got from the show's writers. It's a fact that a lot of the material based directly on the books dragged and got a lot of complaints in its day, like the endless political wrangling in Mereen. That was all straight from the books, and lasted for YEARS on the show! Same for Arya's years in the House of Black and White.

But yeah, so far I'm not impressed with the writing this season, but I'm trying to withhold judgement for three more weeks.

IMO, it was just blue as a visual cue so audiences could easily identify the “evil” dragon.

I don’t think the flame did anything different.
