Could you see Dany killing Jon to take the throne?

Just the way she looked at him after he told her, like he just dashed all her hopes and dreams away with a few words. Her entire journey all this time has been to take the throne, its what was driving her, and Jon is now telling her she can't take it.

I know she comes off really nice sometimes, but theres been alot of times where shes been ruthless and murdered people when she didn't need to. I think theres more of her father in her than she wants to believe.

It wouldn't shock me if she at some point lets Jon die or kills him herself and goes full on bad guy to take the throne.

reply

She's going to betray him, definitely, but probably by flying off and leaving him to die. At the last minute she will come swooping back to kill the undead dragon and save Jon. She will die in his arms, fatally wounded saving him.

reply

I like the general gist of your theory...not saying I agree with the details of it, though. I do think the final resolution of the story will result in Jon becoming ruler, with Dany most likely dying. I don't know if the writers will go the route of Dany showing up to "save" Jon again because they already did that in the battle beyond the wall so it would be kind of repetitive.

reply

They’re certainly making it look like ep 3 is the end of the Night King and that the final 3 eps will be about battling Cersei - and each other.

reply

Yep, I agree. The battle against the dead will be episode 3. The battle, or whatever conflict it may be, will be against Cersei in episode 5 or 6.

reply

After all this buildup starting in the pilot episode I can't see them defeating the Night King so easily. I think Dani and Jon's forces retreating to King's Landing and telling Cersei the dead are coming - forcing her to ally herself with them for real this time - is a more likely outcome. Could be wrong, it just seems anticlimactic to have the white walkers go down in a single battle.

reply

Agreed. I have a hard time believing that it will all be over in a single episode. Although, technically, they could somehow kill the Night King and that would end things as Jon suggested.
But..yeah..since season one this has been the big thing... How could it be easy?

reply

Supposedly one of the remaining episodes is supposed to be nothing but a battle...entirely, or nearly entirely, just that. It could be this next episode, or maybe that will be the culminating conflict against Cersei. Guess we'll find out in a week. The war against the dead has been building up since the first scene of the first episode, so I that's what it will be. The take-down of Cersei might involve as much action as drama to resolve.

reply

It's the next episode. Battle of Winterfell. There's at least 1 more battle episode at Kings Landing, but not sure if that one includes the white walkers.

reply

Agreed.

reply

How are they making it look like that?

That would be terrible.

reply

Well, now I am of the opinion that the Night King has split his forces and he personally is on the march south of Kings Landing with his dragon and the majority of his forces.

Cersei is completely unprepared for what would be coming. They don’t have any Dragonglass or Valeryan steel or knowledge of how to fight the dead. I think the Night King’s strategy is a good one: he easily defeats Cersei and takes her 20,000 men to join his army, and then marches back north to fight Jon and Dany and whoever’s still alive. He’s OK with losing a bunch of his forces at Winterfell since he should be able to easily defeat them later with his even bigger army.

I also think there something to the idea that after he conquers Kings Landing, Cersei becomes his queen. And my little twist to it is that she does it willingly – or even offers herself up to be his queen. Remember, she has nothing left to live for. Literally nothing left. I could see her in her all-consuming hate join forces with the Night King become his queen.

And then the final episode is her at the Night King’s side marching north and entering into battle with the remaining living. Or maybe they stay put in Kings Landing and wait for the surviving humans to make their way south.

reply

Her sole reaction was concern for "her throne".

No relief that her brother was an honorable man instead of a rapist.

No joy or gratitude that she isn't the only remaining Targ and that her family might still continue through Jon.

That greed for power is her failing and the reason why Jon deserves to end up on the throne instead of her.

reply

Agreed ...but like his "father" and "brother" before him he's not in his current position of power because it's what he wants but it's what everyone else wants.
Now that he's in a position of legitimacy isn't going to make him want it any more than he ever has.

Jon's tendency toward bravery and unselfishness will put him directly in harms way. I'd love him to survive but I don't see how he will......Maybe..somehow.
And will Dany really go so far to the dark side to betray him and seal his death? She has he darkerr moments but I don't think we have time for that. I know Jon noticed like we did that her first concern was the threat to what has driven her all her life but I have a hard time imagining that Dany would completely turn her back on him.

reply

GREAT observations bohemian, I totally agree with everything that you said.

Yes I feel the same way, Jon didn’t even bother telling Daenerys that he didn’t want the throne, not that it would’ve reassured her if he did, but he didn’t because he realized it wouldn’t have been his call. Dany for her part has to realize this as well.

As you said it’s not what he’d want but what everyone else would want. My thoughts exactly.

reply

I wonder if he hasn't begun to reevaluate things since his talk with Sam.

"You gave up the crown to protect your people. Would she do the same?"

reply

You’re right Tex. No denying that all she saw was the bottom line & nothing else. If she was going to be upset, then be upset that you had sexual relations with your cousin but that wasn’t the case.

As you said there was no “joy” in learning that she wasn’t alone in the world, but rather “No!, no, NO! Mine, mine, ALL MINE!”

Dany shares certain things with Cersei in the regard that they both sadly are too far gone, but we’ll see.

reply

She's actually Jon's aunt. Being a Targaryen, the incest thing doesn't bother her at all because they have always intermarried.

reply

Of course, Daenarys is now being established as a villain in these series.

reply

I absolutely could. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

reply

He never told her she can't take it. If they had not been interrupted by the commotion outside then I'm sure Jon would have told her that he was not interested in taking the throne.

reply

Yeah but as long as Jon's alive Dany will know its him who is the true king and heir to the throne, she couldn't take the throne knowing it really isn't hers. If Jon died then it would be hers by right, which is why i don't think it would do any good if Jon told her he doesn't want it cause she would always know Jon is the real heir to the throne, her ego couldn't take it.

reply

I think her character is evolving to become more like her crazy father, and she may just be willing to do kill Jon, but I think she ends up being stabbed through the heart before that by Jorah (Azor Ahai)

reply

looolz. Kill the guy she's gaga in love with? How? Order her dragons take him out? Can't see it happening.
