I think the show runners will go with a bitter sweet ending and have Cersei end holding the throne at the end. They won't kill her. The other characters always underestimate her and it always ends up costing them. She will pull off another insane feat and wipe a bunch of the main characters and end up picking up the win.

And her reign is as shaky as a bowl of jello, she has no support from the great families and has to buy armies rather than raising them by traditional methods, she's pregnant with a bastard incest baby, and her rival is about to save Westeros from the armies of the undead. That is not a show she can hold together, so stay tuned for the appearance of "The Valonquar".
Except the valonquar was not mentioned in the show, just in the books, so I'm not sure it will come up at all. Which is an absolute shame, because it opens up so many possibilities for her demise.
I was thinking about this the other day about who could be the valonquar. Dany...Arya...Tyrion...Sansa...Euron... Jon, Bran, and Gendry are all younger brothers. And the men of the Nights Watch are called brothers, too, so even Sam could be in the running.
However, the prophecy talks about the valonquar wrapping its hands around Cersei's throat, which implies A) the death is personal, and B) Cersei has allowed her murderer to get close to her. Based on those two factors, my fave is still Jamie.
Since "valonquar" means "little sibling" rather than "little brother", it could be almost anyone. A younger sibling, like Arya or Tyrion. A "brother" of the Kingsguard or Night's Watch, or one of the Silent "sisters". Or my personal favorite, Dario, who runs a mercenary company called "The Second Sons".
Basically, since The Valonquar could be anyone, it's hardly vital to the plot progression, the only thing it really adds is it's Cersei's primary motive for hating Tyrion enough to kill him. But since she's a bitch who'd hate him enough to kill him just for not being attractive, it's not that important.
The trouble with sociopaths is they run out of allies.

Then there's Euron, who wants the throne for himself, and grudging support from the great families who don't like a Targaryan that comes backed up by armies of foreigners, and all the mercenaries she just hired, who are there only as long as she pays them. And the great families have to be aware that once she runs out of money to pay the mercenaries, the only way she can get more money is by declaring some of their number traitors and confiscating all their money, so they're all poised to jump ship.
And they will start jumping ship, if the news from the North will be what I think it is.
I don't see why not.
The showrunners did crap with the storyline after GRRM ran out of his own narrative last season. Tyrion is the only protagonist I'm rooting for as everyone else lacks depth.
The only issue I have with Cersei's storyline is that her kingdom is suppose to be going broke yet she's forging new alliances with Euron who himself seemed to magically build a new navy overnight after his sister stole his fleet.
That would be good, but my money's still on Stannis. You know he's not really dead.
