Couldn't they have given the Mountain some lifts or something?

He looked barely taller than the Hound when they stood facing one another.

The hound is pretty big

He is but he's meant to be noticeably shorter than the Mountain, hence him being called Mountain.

The mountain isnt just height, but ridiculously muscular. The hound is supposed to be one of the biggest fighters in westeros also

I don't think the producers are that dumb. It was on purpose to show how big Hound is and to stress that they are brothers.

Mountain is more massive, and where he gets steroids in Westeros I don't know.

But what the hell is Houndie doing on Team Danerys anyway? Does he have a shred of loyalty to her cause, or is he just there because he's got nothing better to do?

The hound has had a character transformation of sorts. He has always lent his strength to a cause that is not his own, only now he has lent himself To a cause that he really wants to ebeoive in- even if he doesn't quite yet.
