The plan to capture a wight is stupid

Risking their lives to convince Cersei to cease fire and collaborate until the war with the undead is over seems incredibly stupid and unnecessary. Especially since they can clearly take out Cersei right now as long as they can deal with the fact that there will be a lot of collateral damage.

The smarter plan would be to recruit Arya (and her magic faces) for a clandestine mission to infiltrate KL and kidnap or kill Cersei. Or better still, maybe even kill Cersei and take her face/identity. As soon as she is deposed, the war is basically over since there would no longer be a Lannister heir to the throne. Everyone would just have to get on board with Dany and fight the walking dead.

I'd make a better Queen's Hand.

None of the people making the plans know Arya is a super hero. Hell no one in Westeros other than the guy that taught her and maybe a few others know .

I realize that none of them know Arya has this ability but even sending anyone else from their camp in Lannister armor to do the job of deposing Cersei is a better plan than capturing a wight. I was also a bit dumbfounded that Jon didn't stop at Winterfell on his way to The Wall. If he had he may have learned about Arya's new skills and changed his plan.

Yes I agree with you it's an odd plan to say the least. It was also strange that Jon didn't show at least some brief happiness that Arya and Bran were alive. Hell he grinned when Gendry said he was short he could have smiled when he found out his sister and brother were alive.

reply

Yeah, I think they glossed over that just to move the plot along quickly. But it just came off strange.

Certainly the implementation is stupid, wandering around a place where you expect a giant army of zombies to appear with only a few men is monumentally stupid, even without risking the life of the one person who's in a position to lead the armies of the living. It's make much more sense to send word up and down the wall that you want a live... moving wight and there's a big reward for producing one, somebody will come up with one.

As to convincing Cersei that the zombie apocalypse is night, Tyrion HAS to know that she'll never believe it. Maybe his plan is to convince other people in King's Landing and hope that one takes her out and throws open the gates, and frankly that's likely enough to happen if Cersei holds her present course. Announcing that she's pregnant with her brother's bastard baby, not bothering to bring a food supply into King's Landing, drafting men to fight against dragons, possibly marrying that jumped-up pirate Euron Grejoy... she's got to be losing support by the minute.

Good points. But given the position she is in right now as you've pointed out, sending someone in to assassinate her or even starting a campaign of fear to spread throughout KL so the people themselves overthrow her is a better idea than going after a wight at all.

Incredibly dumb idea made even dumber by sending Tyrion to handle it. This part of the story feels like bad fanfic.

problem is no one in Westeros knew about Arya unique skill
