Even jet engines wouldn't be able to fly the characters to wherever they needed to be like that.

well, with Euron showing up anywhere he likes, we can expect the dragon queen can also do the same.

It's evident that some time has passed. Jaime's army has marched all the way from Highgarden to the outskirts of King's Landing. This would have taken weeks. Plenty of time for Daenerys to ferry her Dothraki from Dragonstone to the mainland.

that makes sense if they were ambushed near King's landing.

I'm pretty sure that city in the distance(the one that tarly said they took the gold to)was in fact kings landing.

It would have taken weeks for the Lannister forces to gather all the food from around Highgarden, load all the gold, and march back to King's Landing. That, plus the fact that Dany's entire force was mounted light cavalry gave her ample time to intercept them.
