One of the best movies in my life.

Brilliant. I loved her, I loved him. I laughed my ass off. Wowsers, just a beautiful, touching story. I have been on a relentless search for a movie that'll stick with me and make me feel as much as this one did. I am so happy to love a movie this much. I'm gonna see if I can order it tomorrow at work, hopefully there's audio commentary!
EEEEEE! EXCITED to watch it again!

I agree, I just saw this on Showtime, and wasn't sure at first, but as the story progressed and the actors show their ability I really feel into the story.
There was no reason not to be impressed.
Absolutely loved this movie.
I wish there were more support for women writers and directors out there.

"Totally! I had no idea it was written and directed by a woman while I was watching and now retrospect it makes sense. I just think it's brave and wicked to show the sexual nature of her character like that and that's something I've, personally, rarely seen on film. Impressed is the word I would use as well, it was bold, honest and just an incredible job by all involved.

It was written and directed by the lead actress.

I think this thread was written by the actress as well.
Nothing special about this movie except the performances, no stand out scenes, no story arc, no exposition to keep the audience interested just the dangled carrot with the father scene at the end. Boring and highly unrealistic to think someone like this young man would continue to take her abuse no matter what his problems are.

I agree. Definitely the choice in casting -- I am talking Jason Ritter, since she obviously had herself in mind for this part. I love when he tells her that she can say whatever she wants to him, it won't hurt his feelings. Very different from anything I have ever seen.
