I haven't seen it, but the trailer made me wonder.

i'm thinking los angeles. one of the characters said he was from echo park and they implied they were near a beach so that just immediately made me think of LA.

It will seem like a weird movie at first, but it all comes together when you watch it! it's a good movie! :)

The video store is an actual store on Santa Monica Blvd in LA called....Cinefile.

The video store is right around the corner from Hearty Deli just off of Santa Monica Blvd on Corinth (where two of the characters have a conversation after closing). The deli is just so so, not bad, but nothing really "great". https://www.yelp.com/biz/hearty-deli-los-angeles

In the last few minutes he drags her out of her apartment and she protests that she hates LA...
