People at his level of accomplishment... business, sport, ultra-spy, politics, tend not to let personal junk like that into their lives. That's how they get there. They may have weird family issues (as we all do) but they are able to let go.

He made Lenore fight tooth and nail for what she wanted and since she had custody and he wanted to build a relationship he had no choice but to adjust his attitude. He had to change or lose his daughter forever.
