The guys had to have someone on their payroll who is adept at performing a few gynecological services, whether a current or former obgyn, doctor, registered nurse, etc. It was most likely a man, unless they managed to find a woman who would not gain a shred of sympathy for the girls she examines and says/does something to upset the whole operation. Yes I'm sure it was humiliating to undergo the examination, by a man or woman, against her will; it's still embarrassing for women who voluntarily schedule obgyn appointments to undergo an exam, even if by a female, anyway. As for how can one tell if a girl is a "certified" virgin, the hymen (this string of tissue in the birth canal) has to be intact. If broken, most assume it's because a girl is not a virgin. However not thats not the case anymore. A hymen can be torn a number of ways that have nothin to do with intercourse: use of tampons, riding a bicycle/bike accident, a lot of yoga/stretching exercises, or some girls are just born without a hymen (which sucks in third world countries where girls are checked for their hymens to ensure they are virgins before marriage and if a hymen isn't felt, she is ostracized.)

But i have a question about your assertion that girls in third world countries are checked for hymens before marriage: Is this check usually performed by a doctor, member of the clergy or someone else? Is it usually performed by a make or female? And if performed by a male, wouldn't the girl's groom-to-be get upset that another man is performing such an intimate inspection of his bride-to-be? I have to imagine the man would be aroused while performing the inspection, no matter how often he has done it before, especially if the girl is attractive.
