Why didn't Bryan Mills rescue Amanda?
He went through all that trouble to rescue Kim, why didn't he find Amanda while he was at it? Also, there was one place that had girls drugged up and tied to beds. Why didn't he at least untie them?

shareHe found Amanda. She was dead.
shareI understand that she was dead but I was at least expecting his daughter to show some grief for her friend or at least have a scene with Amanda's parents.
sharerescuing Amanda wasn't part of his mission
it was to rescue Kim and given the time frame he wasn't going to waste any time on anything else
In military it's very important to stick with the objective and it alone
There's also the factor of screenwriters not closing up every single possible open end. I didn't need to actually SEE him calling the authorities, or telling his French contact where the body was and where that hole was that he found her.
I figured he did it anyway, but did it off-screen.

THIS PHONE BOOTH RESERVED FOR CLARK KENT
It's an action movie. A scene such as you're describing here with the dead girl's parents would have just slowed the action down.
shareThe thing is with movies it is always the least popular character that gets killed. It is an american movie, so Amanda is more promiscuous, it's a little bit like she sleeps around anyway, so she is bad, she gets killed. The happy ending was distasteful as if everything was good at the end. Her best friend is still dead. But they wanted probably a hollywood ending, very distasteful.
shareWhy would she show any grief or long term mental issues? SHE GOT SINGING LESSONS FROM A CELEB. OMG.
shareHe was too busy filming Taken 2
shareWith all the gunshots, cops were going to show up at each of the locations where he shot more men and found more girls. He didn't really need to personally take care of them himself.
shareYeah, this isn't 'Temple of Doom' with Indy planning to free all these children.
Bryan isn't out to be a crusader for young women, he's just there to carry out his plan.
"Thanks, guys." "So long, partner."
- Toy Story 3 (9/10)
I'm sure he would have rescued Amanda had she been alive, if only because she might have been a more useful informant than the girl with the jacket and becasue she spoke better English and was drugged and abused for a much shorter time period.
shareTry paying attention to the movie before posting these clueless threads.

That's one of the few problems I had with the movie. It appears that Bryan leaves the other women to their fate in the brothel. Maybe the cops eventually show up, but it would have been nice for Bryan to make an anonymous call to the cops.
And it would have been nice for his daughter to have had some reaction to her friend Amanda dying.
Maybe those parts were filmed and left on the cutting room floor. Maybe Besson wanted the audience to believe Bryan was a tough parent willing to make the hard decision to let the other women die to complete his mission and save the daughter he love. Who knows?
Maybe he didnt want to risk the albanians shutting down operations and going into hiding, thus ruining his chances of ever finding his daughter.

Call the cops? The same cops that were being paid off by Albanians? Great idea.
Thank you!
shareWhy call the cops if 1) They're paid off by the Albanians, and 2) They would already be on their way there anyway due to all the shots fired? Calling them would've been a waste of what little time he had.
The movie isn't about Amanda and Kim, it's about Bryan rescuing Kim, I highly doubt they wanted to spend money filming a five minute scene where they're in the hospital and Bryan tells Kim that Amanda is dead. Some things are better left off screen than on screen.
Wait a second...what the hell do you mean by "Make a hard decision to let the other woman die."? Amanda was already dead, there was absolutely nothing Bryan could've done for her, and the other girls would've been treated by the ambulances that got called in after the cops showed up, I mean hell what are they gonna do? Go in and put a bullet between each girls eyes and say they were like that when they got there? Odds are it's not the entire police force there that are corrupt, someone would notice that they're digging department issued slugs out of their skulls.

She was dead, OD'd, choked to death on her own sick.
------:
The crime is life, the sentence is death!
Face it, Amanda was a devious, lying little slut. Aside from the fact that she was dead, her antics were what dragged Kim into this maelstrom of horror and filth in the first place. I'm sure Kim had enough time to start holding a serious grudge and as for Papa Bryan, he probably figured his ex-wife could hold Amanda's parents hands...if she wanted to. They should have instilled some basic decency into their daughter when they had the chance. She arrived in Paris wanting to get laid, and she did. End of (her) story.
From what little we saw of Amanda, she was just an ordinary young girl making decisions from a position of inexperience. Her intent was never to cause her friend any harm, and like most people raised in relative wealth and security simply failed to consider the consequences of her actions, which were at the most extreme end of the list of possibilities anyway.
'Devious, lying little slut' is awfully exaggerated, don't you think?
No, 'Devious, lying little slut' is not exaggeration at all, I guess. She was delighted to think about sleeping with some Peter.

Of course it's an exaggeration. A girl doesn't even need to have sex to be labelled a slut now. Misogynistic bs. The previous poster almost seems to believe she got what she deserved. Why? She was a young, excited girl having fun in Paris. She made a big mistake, but that's what people do. Wanting a holiday fling does not make a woman a slut and I bet no one would use that word if we were discussing a male character.

How dare a woman feel “delighted” over the possibility of sex.
So many creeps post here.
And let’s not forget that she lied to Amanda about her cousins, apparently being with no compunction. I wonder if Amanda would have been so sanguine about going to Paris is she knew she and Kim were going to be all on their own. Amanda also decided she was gonna screw the scuzzy mob bird-dog guy is about half a nanosecond. Can you say “low self-esteem?” Sure you can.
shareIf you’re the type who thinks that wanting sex with an attractive person, automatically means you have low self esteem. She wanted a holiday fling. They happen all the time.
I’m sure you lot would be going on about sluts, low self esteem and deserving to be raped and killed if a guy merely mentioned wanting a holiday fling.
It’s an extreme exaggeration and none of you weirdos would be reacting this way if a teen boy expressed an interested in sex.
Creeps.

Eww, what an absolutely vile post. You think a sex slave got what she wanted, because she was willing to have a holiday fling?
Stay the fuck away from women, you disgusting creep.
THANK YOU! You know, I usually hate terms like "incel" or "misogynist" because they tend to be misused... but in THIS case there are no better way to describe these kind of vile individuals.
The worst part is that I'm sure that these same disgusting people wouldn't think twice if an attractive women would want to have sex with them. No, they would do it with pleasure, like rabbits.
It's the worst kind of double standard.
what you have to understand is that Bryan might still kind of be pissed at Amanda. after all, she's the one that started this whole problem, and had it not been for her, Kim would be safe and sound. i'm not saying Bryan was glad she's dead, but his anger at her and his grief for her probably balanced out, and thus, he felt neutral about the whole thing.
