Is Oprah's fat mouth the only reason this is rated above a 4?
Quite possibly the most overrated film of all time.

shareNo, but you have to care about/identify with/have empathy for Precious in order to appreciate it.

I agree with original post. Sometimes there is so much hype around a movie that the real thing can be a let down. This can be due to reviews or big name actors to name a few.
Whereas when you go in to a movie with no expectations, sometimes you get a pleasant surprise.
But that's what Oprah does, isn't it? She opens her mouth, starts saying some *beep* about racism, equality and how this movie is the Jesus of movies and everybody starts acting as if it is God in movie-form. This movie is complete garbage and if Oprah hadn't been there with her fat mouth, this movie wouldn't even come close to winning an Oscar
sharenot the most 'overrated' film clearly. some may not agree with this but i find the film pandering. i believe many gave the film undue praise simply for starring a morbidly obese person facing every stereotypical adversity you could imagine. it's good that the film gave an actor who isn't your typical bombshell a chance and she did fine i think, which is why i think oprah gave it praise.. but the rest of the movie itself i think is very amateurish and poorly crafted from the writing to the cinematography

Is your ignorant fat troll mouth the only reason you came on here to slam this movie, which you probably never even saw? I thought so. Plus some of you stupid idiots on here obviously can't tell a good film when you see one--which this was. So just STFU---most of you on this thread aren't qualified to judge a film worth a damn anyway. You'd think a film was good only if it showed some T&A for you, that's all. Yeah, Oprah got this film made, so why do you have a problem with that? There's always idiots like y'all complaining about some dumb insignificant s***, no matter what.
