Has anyone seen the 'alternate ending' mentioned in 'trivia'?
Would you post a synopsis if you've seen it? I don't have time to go through all the threads, if it's already been answered. Thanks

To me, this should have been the regular ending. The ending without this is way too abrupt.
Interesting. This extended version is the one I saw, I just assumed it was the regular ending. So yeah, I imagine it would be an abrupt ending without it...and would pretty much suck.

You dont get all the info unless you are willing to torture the wife and kids in front of the perp.
And that women are basically destroyers of civilizations. They simply are not loyal to their tribe...(except Muslim women). The FBI lady totally was responsible for millions of deaths by pussing out. She shifted her loyalty to the enemy's (Muslims) tribe. Women never SEE it that way. But it does not change the truth.

She would have to live with that. All because she would not do what it takes to save HER civilization.
In reality, EVERY person involved in an interrogation where MILLIONS of lives are at stake are all pre vetted to not bat an eyelash if it comes to the torture of the perp's Wife and kids. Its all Black Op stuff that never sees the light of day.
Worse has probably happened already in our Black sites over lesser odds.

The point is, war crimes are going on every single day, on American soil, right under your nose, all in the name of national security. The irony is do you sleep safer or not knowing what goes on?

Just seen the film on TV and it was the "extended" ending. I'm guessing it was the director's original ending and the studio messed with it for the theatrical release.
There seems to always be a desire on the part of movie-studios to send audiences out on a high with a neatly tied-up "happy" ending, but it's often the more ambiguous (or even downbeat) endings that are more powerful and leave a lasting impression. You might not leave the theater smiling, but you'll leave with more to think about and discuss.
It's a bit like what happened with "I am Legend". That film was clearly set-up to deliver a similar twist to the original novel, i.e.
the "monsters" aren't the real monsters and, from their perspective, the character we've identified with as the "good guy" is in fact someone who exterminates and experiments on them like Josef Mengele.
The studio clearly backed away from that, hence the ridiculous re-shoot "hero" ending we got in theaters - which went against everything the original version of the film - and the novel - had intended, instead delivering the required "happy ending", with no confusing ambiguity about who's good and who's evil.
Luckily, just like "Unthinkable", the original cut seems to have become established as the "regular" version that you tend to see now. A blessed relief for the directors, I'm sure - and for all of us who don't need or want our films to necessarily be simplistic and clear-cut. share

The 'regular' ending is the same, minus the scene I described. Whatever the scene is that you see before that scene (I vaguely remember it being Carrie Ann Moss sitting outside the building they were in the entire movie, or something) is the last scene.

The movie is pointless without the "alternate" ending..
I laughed real hard when the camera showed the ''hidden'' bomb. Like 5 meters away.
Covered in a white sheet but prepared so you can see the timer...
Something I learned from Isreal, Ireland-Belfast conflict, don't rush in as a medic, because the 2nd bomb will get you as well.

The ending I saw last night was this "alternate ending" so I just assumed it was the only ending. I watched the film on Netflix UK.
