Pixar Was Great Before They Were Assimilated

...just saw this again and it made me think how much BETTER Pixar was before they were totally folded into the Disney collective.

They had a string of really great movies there for a good number of years... movies like this... and Up, The Incredibles, etc. that truly did appeal to 'all ages'.

Can't think of the last one that I thought was really more than just a kiddie movie. (sigh)

Well, at least we still have these.

I think the only real negative effect of the merger is an increase in sequels/prequels. But Toy Story 3 worked and it along with both this film and Up were post merger. Cars 2 might have been something a little different for Pixar, but I don't think it's near as bad as it's reputation. Brave had problems that go beyond anything so simple as just blaming Disney. I also think next year's Inside Out has really high potential. Pixar should be fine, I think it's demise has been highly exaggerated.

If everything is not all rainbows and kittens for you today, hopefully it will be tomorrow!

Speaking from the post Inside Out point, I'd say most everyone agrees that Inside Out was a return to Pixar greatness.
