Unwarranted hatred

Wall E is a very good film, especially for something aimed at kids. What is with the hatred? Is it simply the success of something you didn't care for that makes you so angry?

reply

It's the same for any film that is highly rated, grosses a lot of money or wins awards. I wouldn't worry too much about it, these people are clearly in the minority so they feel they have to shout louder.

I for one think that anyone that can come up with a piece of art such as this that can make you laugh, cry or just really feel something is an amazing human being and making a massive contribution to the substance of the universe.

I wonder how many things these negative reviewers have even made in their lives that people love...

reply

It's mediocre. And I think it totally sends the wrong message especially to children. Waste the world - somebody will clean after you?

reply

The message was lets not waste this world and start cleaning it. Sorry you got the wrong message.

reply

That's not the message. You need to watch the film again.

reply

Don't get me wrong. I don't hate the movie. I just think it's mediocre.
I also said it's giving the wrong message to children. I think I got the message.
I'm just afraid kids won't get it. The simple view is a wasted earth is cleaned up by a robot, people are well-fed and don't have to do anything and in the end everything will be good.

-It's "Warlord".
-Thank you, but I prefer it my way.

No you didn't get it.

The message is that we should not let it ever get to that stage in the first place, by being consumed by consumerism and neglecting basic care for the planet we live on.

And the humans of the future are not shown to be something to aspire to, at least I didn't think so: Fat, lazy, no ambition, and unable to do anything without the help of machines. I don't know about you but I don't want me or my grandchildren to end up like that.

Yes everything worked out ok in the end, because it's a Disney film, that how they tend to go. But by returning to Earth humans had to essentially start civilisation all over again, that what you see in the end credits.

I hope that 700 years into the future we have continued to advance as a species, culturally and technologically, while at the same time looking after the planet. Anything that forces us to leave Earth or start civilisation again is a bad thing.

That's the message I took.

reply

No you didn't get it.

You don't even understand that I didn't explain my view.
Just how I see other people might look at it. Please read more closely.

That's the message I took.

Great. But you don't see that the simpler minds will get it wrong?
So I wouldn't give this movie too much credit.
It's "a decent science-fiction story." (Roger Ebert)

Some people 'might' get the wrong message about any film. Are you suggesting the film-makers have been irresponsible here?
