Inspired by an ayahuasca trip?

I was told this movie was written after a ayahuasca trip. Ayahuasca contains DMT. If you want to learn more about it I suggest you watch the film DMT The Spirit Molecule.

I'm guessing they saw a vision of the future resembling the one we're presented in this film.

I found this idea fascinating. I need to re-watch this movie while keeping this in mind.

Has anyone else heard this? Did one of the writers actually admit to this?

I wouldn't doubt it one bit. A lot of animation feels inspired by psychedelics to me. A lot of very deep themes being presented by children's movies, and with stunning animation. These films actually go hand in hand with psychedelic trips very well. The Little Prince on Netflix I believe is entirely about pychedelics in it's subtext, while of course incorporating it into the classic story. But the story at it's heart is about not losing the connection with you're inner child, which pretty much describes every acid trip I've ever had.
