They talk about the grandfather paradox several times and then fail to see that the paradox should have been in play at the end of the movie. If the paper was destroyed then there would be no reason for the "editor" to kill them. If the editor does not try to kill them then they would not need to destroy the paper. I wonder if this was done on purpose as a little joke. Regardless, I really liked this movie and I would love to see a sequel.

It is in play, but the consequences are not what Ray would have expected. They did cease to exist, but their memories of events continued to exist in the minds of their past selves. As well as their "greatest work" being destroyed.

What we're seeing in this movie is one giant closed timelike curve, which closes when the pint gets spilled on the paper.

This is not substantiated by the movie, so this is just your theory, not fact.
