Very first scene - was his voice dubbed?

In the very first scene of the movie, does anyone else think that the guy's American accent was dubbed? The accent seems too good to me for the part, and I doubt they would hire voice coaches for a 2 minute scene on a low budget movie. If you watch it slowly, it kinda looks dubbed, but hard to tell.

i think i can still hear an irish accent around the "th"'s and "s"'s -- could be just me though

Yes, it was dubbed. Hugh Laurie has been dubbed for the last 6 years.

Oh, no, wait. O'DOWD WAS ACTING.

Not dubbed. I heard him on Opie and Anthony once and he does a great American accent

Why do you think it's dubbed? You don't need a vocal coach to learn to speak in a very basic American accent.

How can you 'watch slowly'?

Isn't watching speed constant? You mean if you PLAY IT BACK slowly?

(I am aware that chemicals might change the speed of perception, but I don't think 'watching speed' still changes at all - you always watch at the same speed, but you only change the receiving/perception speed. After all, light rays always move at the same speed, relatively speaking)
