Another goof?

I didn't see this mentioned in some of the other topics so if it has been and I missed it I'm sorry. After Gina comes back to Stefan's apartment from the hospital the dog angrily snaps at Stefan (obviously because it isn't the real Stefan) however it happily greeted Gina at the front door? Shouldn't the dog have been able to tell that Gina was an impostor as well regardless if she remembered or not?

No I think she was there often because at the beginning of the film when she's dropping him off he asks her if she's gonna stay the night again and she says no she has to laundry leading me to believe she's been at his place most of the time neglecting her chores in her home/

I think you might be right. I don't know if it was so much of a goof as a careless detail, though. If the dog had snapped at her too, then the audience would have known something was weird from the beginning and ruin the twist, but if the dog didn't snap at him, then we wouldn't have been clued into the initial plot. So, I think the movie makers knew this, but they just decided to make it suddle and hope the audience wouldn't notice it. Sometimes you have to sacrafice a little pride and continuity to make a movie good.

Maybe it all has to do with the impressions they each give. The dog lives with him every day, and now he's completely different. It must see how strangley he's acting, and can possibly pick up in an unconscious way that his intentions are less than pleasant.

Gina, on the other hand, doesn't live there. Although she visits often she doesn't take care of the dog, so it probably doesn't care much about her. Also, although she's shaken from the crash, she still thinks she's just a normal person so perhaps she's not projecting any sort of evil vibes that the dog could pick up on.

FeartheNumbers,

I agree with you. I think the issue was the evil that was being obviously expressed by the boyfriend. The dog had no way of knowing who was who. Even if that was his real master, but he presented himself to the dog in a aggressive way, the dog may have reacted similarly. In the case of Gena, she did not realize that she was a "double", and as so, did not present the cold, detachment of the boyfriend. Therefore, the dog did not feel threatened.

If you notice the old lady in the subway couldn't distinguish whether or not Gina was a doppelganger either. The amnesia Gina suffered definitely has to be factored in because it's the only logical explanation.
